The VEVOR 2-in-1 Electric Hoist Winch is a portable powered hoist for lifting heavy loads straight up. It is rated at 1,100 lb (about 499 kg) and runs from a 1500W motor, with a wire rope and hook. It is aimed at garages, workshops and warehouses, where lifting an engine part, a pallet load or a heavy tool by hand is impractical.

Lifting capacity, height and speed

VEVOR lists these figures for model 500-C:

  • Capacity: 1,100 lb (498.95 kg)
  • Lifting height: 22.9 ft (7 m)
  • Average speed: at least 13 ft/min (4 m/min)
  • Rated power: 1500W

The speed is slow on purpose. A hoist moves loads in small, controlled steps, so 13 ft/min means a full-height lift takes under two minutes. Capacity is the most important number, and the load, the hook, the mounting point and anything the hoist hangs from all need to be rated for it.

Two ways to control it

The hoist can be operated manually at the unit for short pulls, or with a wired remote. VEVOR says the remote is 19 ft long and uses an instant toggle switch. A longer lead lets you stand to the side and watch the load rather than stand beneath it. The listing notes that the hoist should not be run unloaded on first use, so read the manual's break-in advice.

Wire rope, hook and gearbox

The rope is galvanized steel wire rope that VEVOR describes as aerospace-grade, with a tensile strength of 1520 MPa. Tensile strength measures how much stress the steel can take before breaking; the working load limit is always set much lower. The hook rotates 360° and has a safety latch, which keeps the load from slipping off and lets it turn without twisting the rope. VEVOR also says the gearbox runs cool for longer sessions.

Size and what is in the box

The hoist is compact at 7.87 x 8.66 x 7.87 in (20 x 22 x 20 cm) and weighs 23.14 lb (10.5 kg), so one person can carry it and set it up. The box contains:

  • the electric hoist
  • a mounting bracket
  • a strap
  • a pair of gloves
  • two spare carbon brushes
  • a user manual

Carbon brushes are the small parts that carry current inside many brushed motors and wear down with use, so spares are practical.

Who it suits

A hoist like this suits home garages, small workshops and light industrial spaces where loads need to go up and down in a controlled way. VEVOR's listing also mentions towing. Anything beyond straight lifting should follow the manual, since the angle of pull changes the loads on the hoist and its mount.

What to check before you buy

  • Mounting point: the beam, frame or anchor must be rated for more than the hoist's capacity, with a safe margin.
  • Load weight: include rigging, slings and containers, not just the item.
  • Power: a 1500W motor needs a suitable outlet and circuit; check the voltage the manual specifies.
  • Lifting height: make sure 22.9 ft covers your space, including headroom.
  • Safe practice: never stand under a suspended load, and follow the manual and local workplace rules.
  • Upkeep: inspect the rope, hook and latch before use and replace worn parts.

The short version

  • A portable 2-in-1 electric hoist, VEVOR model 500-C, rated at 1,100 lb.
  • 1500W motor, 22.9 ft lift and at least 13 ft/min average speed.
  • Manual or 19 ft wired remote control.
  • Galvanized steel wire rope and a 360° hook with a safety latch.
  • About 23 lb, with bracket, strap, gloves and spare brushes included.
