The VEVOR 1.25HP compact router is a small, variable-speed wood router sold as a kit with three bases: fixed, plunge and tilt. A router spins a cutter at high speed to shape edges, cut grooves and trim laminate, and compact models like this are often called palm routers because they can be used with one hand. The kit covers several common jobs without needing separate tools.

Power and speed

VEVOR lists an input power of 800W at 110V, 50/60Hz, which it describes as 1.25HP. The no-load speed range is 10,000 to 30,000 RPM, adjustable with a variable speed control. In general, larger cutters and harder materials call for lower speeds, and small bits in softer wood can run faster, so variable speed lets you match the cutter and material. VEVOR also lists Constant-Response Circuitry, which is meant to keep speed steady under load for cleaner cuts.

Soft start

Without a soft start, a router goes from standstill to full speed in a moment and can twist in your hand. VEVOR says the soft start reduces the starting torque, which helps keep the tool from jumping and gives better control.

Three bases for different jobs

  • Fixed base: the router sits at a set cutter depth, a common choice for edge profiles and for use in a router table.
  • Plunge base: the cutter is lowered into the work from above, used for stopped grooves, mortises and inlay.
  • Tilt base: lets the router sit at an angle for angled or off-edge work, as the listing describes.

VEVOR says the motor housing and fixed base are cast aluminium.

Depth control and collets

The adjustable rack-and-pinion depth control has clear inch and millimetre scales, and a quick-release cam lock for base removal and depth changes. The maximum depth is approximately 20 mm. The collet capacity is 1/4 inch (6.35 mm) and 3/8 inch (9.5 mm), and both collets are included. The router measures 2.55 inches (64.8 mm) in diameter without the trimmer base.

Comfort and dust

The cast-aluminium housing and soft-grip handles are meant to reduce vibration for comfort and control. A dust hood connects to a vacuum so the work area stays cleaner. Wear eye and ear protection and a dust mask with any router, and follow the manual.

In the box

One compact router, fixed base, tilt base, plunge base, 1/4-inch and 3/8-inch collets, straight edge guide, curved edge roller guide, dust extraction hood, a pair of replacement carbon brushes, collet nut, spanner wrench and a set of related fittings. The listing doesn't mention router bits, so plan to buy them separately.

Who it suits

It suits hobby woodworkers, furniture makers and tradespeople who need a light router for edges, hinge recesses, trimming and small grooves. For large, deep cuts in hard material or heavy table use, a larger router is the usual choice.

What to check before you buy

  • Voltage: the listed voltage is 110V, so make sure it matches your supply.
  • Bits: check they fit 1/4-inch or 3/8-inch collets, and buy them separately.
  • Depth: a maximum depth of about 20 mm suits light work.
  • Dust extraction: check whether your vacuum hose fits the hood.
  • Upkeep: spare carbon brushes are included; check the manual for replacement intervals.
  • Safety gear: wear protection and clamp your workpiece.
