The Veise VSL-2000 is a keyless entry set for a front door, combining a deadbolt, a lever handle and a touchscreen keypad in a satin nickel finish. You can open it with a passcode, or manage it from a phone app. It is aimed at households, rental hosts and anyone who wants to give out access without handing over physical keys.

Keypad and app control

The door is operated from the touchscreen keypad. Through the Veise app you can set passwords, manage access rights and view access logs, and you can share access with family, guests or tenants through eKeys. Veise says you should not change the master password on the keypad before pairing with the app, and that you may need to touch the keypad to wake it. If the app cannot find the lock, the maker advises a reset.

Types of passcode

Veise says the lock supports more than 250 passwords, which can be generated and shared remotely. The kinds it lists are permanent, timed, one-time and recurring. These are useful for a cleaner who comes weekly, a guest staying a few nights, or a contractor who needs one visit. Remote generation of codes typically depends on the gateway described below.

Auto-lock and one-touch lock

The deadbolt can lock itself automatically after a delay anywhere from 5 to 900 seconds, or you can press the touchscreen for a one-touch lock. Auto-lock reduces the chance of leaving a door unlocked, though it also means you need to carry your phone or remember your code.

Remote access needs a gateway

Veise says remote access, including real-time access logs, status checks and Alexa and Google Assistant control, requires the Veise G2 gateway, which is sold separately. Without it, the lock relies on the keypad and nearby app connection. Keep this in mind if remote use is your main reason for buying.

Weather and fit

The listing gives an IP54 classification, which generally means protection from dust ingress and splashing water, but not from jets or immersion. Veise says the set fits most US standard left-handed and right-handed doors and can be installed with just a screwdriver. Door thickness, bore size and backset can still vary, so measure your door.

Support

The maker lists at least a one-year warranty, phone support Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM PST, and email support at all hours.

Who it suits

It suits homeowners who want a keypad entry, families who share access, and hosts who manage guests or tenants. It also suits anyone who often loses keys. It may suit you less if you want a lock that works fully remotely without extra hardware.

What to check before you buy

  • Door preparation: check the door thickness, bore and backset against the manual.
  • Handing: confirm it fits your door's swing direction.
  • Gateway: decide whether you need the separate G2 gateway.
  • Power: check what batteries it uses and how to access the lock if they run flat.
  • Backup: check whether there is a physical key or other emergency option.
  • Local rules: follow the manual and any building or rental rules when fitting it.
