The Veise VE027 is a keyless smart deadbolt that replaces a standard deadbolt with a fingerprint reader, a touch keypad and built-in Wi-Fi. Family members can use a fingerprint or code, guests can get time-limited access, and you can check from anywhere whether the door is locked.

Seven ways to lock and unlock

Veise lists seven methods: the KK Home app, fingerprint, PIN code, voice, authorized admin, key card and physical key. Two cards and two keys come in the box, and the lock can manage more than 100 cards. LED indicators show at a glance whether the door is locked or unlocked, a one-touch lock function locks it with a single press, and auto-lock can be set from 10 to 180 seconds.

Built-in Wi-Fi, no hub

Many smart locks connect over Bluetooth and need a separate hub to reach the internet. The VE027 has Wi-Fi built in and connects directly to a 2.4GHz network. Most home routers broadcast on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz, so check that your 2.4GHz signal reaches the door, especially if it's far from the router or behind thick walls.

Through the app you can lock and unlock remotely, see the lock's status in real time, view entry and exit logs, receive alerts and low-battery reminders, and create, share or delete codes and fingerprints. The lock also works with Alexa and Google Assistant for voice commands to lock, unlock or check its status.

Fingerprints and codes

The fingerprint reader uses what Veise calls AI self-learning technology, and Veise says it unlocks in 0.2 seconds. It stores more than 20 fingerprints, managed in the app.

More than 100 PIN codes can be created and deleted remotely, in four types: permanent, recurring, scheduled and one-time. That covers a weekly code for a cleaner, a code for the dates of a stay or a single-use code for a delivery. An anti-peep feature lets you type random digits before or after the real code so onlookers can't easily read it, and the keypad disables itself for three minutes after 10 wrong attempts.

Certifications, weather and data

The lock is IP65 weatherproof. Under the IP system, the 6 means dust-tight and the 5 means protection against water jets, which covers rain on an exterior door. It is certified to BHMA and ANSI Grade 3. Under that standard, Grade 1 is the most demanding level and Grade 3 is the level typically used for residential locks.

According to Veise, access logs, user information, codes and fingerprints are stored with AES encryption on the lock's own chip.

Power and backup entry

The lock runs on eight AA batteries, which are not included. The app shows the battery level and sends alerts when it runs low. If the batteries run flat, a USB-C port allows temporary power from a power bank, and the physical key still opens the door.

Installation and fit

Veise says it installs in about 15 minutes on standard US deadbolt doors with just a screwdriver, with no drilling on a door already prepared for a deadbolt. It lists door thicknesses from 1-3/8 to 1-3/4 inches and bore holes of 1-1/2 or 2-1/8 inches (38 or 54 mm); the fitting diagram shows a backset of 2-3/8 or 2-3/4 inches (60 or 70 mm). It works on left- and right-handed doors but not on mortise or integrated lock sets, and the door handle is separate. Follow the installation guide and manual, and test every method with the door open before relying on it.

Veise includes a 1-year limited warranty, extended by a further year when you register the product, with phone and email support in the US.

Who it suits

It suits families who want keyless entry, hosts who manage guests and short-term rentals, and anyone who wants to check and control their front door from their phone without adding a hub.
