The Veise VE027-L is a smart front-door lock and handle set in matte black that connects straight to a home Wi-Fi network. Veise says no extra hub is needed. It offers eight ways to open the door, app alerts and temporary access codes. Here is what the main features mean.
Direct Wi-Fi, no hub
Many smart locks connect to a phone by Bluetooth or need a separate hub for remote access. This one connects directly to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network, which Veise says allows remote lock and unlock, status checks, an access log and notifications from anywhere. Note the 2.4GHz requirement: some routers only offer 5GHz or combine the two, so check your network settings.
Eight ways to unlock
Veise lists remote app, fingerprint, multi-mode passcodes, voice control, IC card, keys, user authorization and code sharing. Voice commands work with Alexa and Google Assistant. The auto-lock feature can be set from 0 to 180 seconds in the app, so the door can lock itself after you leave.
Fingerprints and passcodes
The fingerprint reader unlocks in 0.2 seconds, with AI self-learning, a quoted 99.99% accuracy and storage for up to 20 fingerprints that can be added or removed through the app. Over 100 permanent or recurring codes are supported, plus expiring and one-time codes. An anti-peeping function accepts extra digits before and after the correct code. Wrong attempts trigger alerts and auto-lock. Away mode limits entry to the master password, the app and the physical key.
Data and alerts
Access records, user information, passwords and fingerprints are stored on the lock itself with AES128 encryption, according to Veise. The app sends door open and close reminders and unusual-access alerts, and keeps a log. A Silent Mode mutes operating sounds.
Eight batteries
The lock takes 8 AA batteries (not included). Veise says this gives stronger signal output and better connection stability than a four-battery Wi-Fi lock, and longer battery life, though it gives no figure in hours or months. Low-battery alerts appear in the app. A Type-C emergency port and a backup key cover the case where the batteries run out.
Build and installation
The handle and lock kit is all-zinc alloy, built to BHMA/ANSI standards and rated IP65 for outdoor weather. It fits doors 1-3/8 to 2 inches (35-50mm) thick, with a handle-hole centre to lock-hole centre distance of at least 2-15/16 inches (75mm) and hole diameters of 1-1/2 or 2-1/8 inches (38mm or 54mm). Veise says installation takes about 15 minutes with a screwdriver and no drilling, and includes instructions and a tutorial. Follow local codes and the manual.
Support
A one-year limited warranty is listed, extended to two years on product registration, plus US phone and email support.
Who it suits
It suits homeowners, tenants and hosts who want remote access and notifications without buying a separate hub, and who can supply a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi signal at the door.
