The Veise VE017-H is a smart front-door lock set in matte black with a handle, a touchscreen keypad and a fingerprint reader. It replaces a standard lockset and offers eight ways to open the door. Here is what the main features mean and what to check before fitting one.
Eight ways to unlock
Veise says the lock opens with fingerprint, mobile app, remote authorization, IC card, PIN code, personalized passcodes, voice commands or a mechanical key. Voice control works with Alexa or Google Assistant and needs the brand's G1 gateway, sold separately. The key is a useful fallback if the batteries run flat. Silent Mode mutes operation sounds at night, and Passage Mode keeps the door unlocked, for example during a gathering.
Fingerprints and codes
The fingerprint reader recognises a finger in about 0.2 seconds, and Veise says it uses AI self-learning to improve over time and quotes 99.99% accuracy. It stores 20+ fingerprints. Over 100 passcodes can be created, whether permanent, recurring, duration-limited or one-time. An anti-peeping function lets you enter extra digits around the right code so onlookers cannot read it from the keypad.
App and gateway
The KK Home app is used to share access, generate temporary codes and manage users, which suits landlords and holiday-rental hosts. Voice prompts are available in English, Spanish and French. For remote control, notifications and voice assistants you need the G1 gateway, which Veise says supports three VE01-series locks. Without it, the lock still works locally.
Build and weather protection
The handle is zinc alloy, and the lock is listed as BHMA/ANSI Grade 3, a North American hardware grading. Its IP55 code means protection against dust and water jets to a degree; it is not a guarantee against all weather. Data is stored with local 128-bit encryption. As with any security device, follow local codes and the manual.
Power
It runs on four AA alkaline batteries (not included) for up to 12 months according to Veise. An emergency power port lets you power the lock from outside if the batteries die. The auto-lock delay can be set between 10 and 180 seconds.
Installation
Veise says it fits left- or right-handed doors 1-3/8 to 2 inches (35-50mm) thick, and the lock needs only a screwdriver. Step-by-step instructions are included, along with an online tutorial.
Support
The brand lists a one-year limited warranty, extended to two years with product registration, and US phone and email support.
Who it suits
It suits households and hosts who want keyless entry without carrying keys, and who need to give short-term access to family, guests or tenants.
What to check before you buy
- Door fit: measure door thickness and check the existing hole sizes and handing.
- Gateway: decide whether you need remote access, voice control or notifications, which require the separate G1 gateway.
- Batteries: you will need to supply four AA alkaline batteries.
- Climate: check that IP55 protection suits how exposed the door is.
- Fire or building codes: check local requirements for exit hardware on your door.
