The Veise RZ-C is a keypad deadbolt sold together with two lever handles, finished in oil-rubbed bronze. It replaces a conventional key-operated set with a backlit keypad, so household members and guests can use codes instead of keys. Below is what its features mean, which doors it is made for and what to confirm before ordering.
How keyless entry works here
Instead of turning a key, you type a code on the keypad. Veise says the keys are backlit and responsive, which helps when you arrive after dark. A backup physical key is included for unlocking if you need it, which is a sensible fallback for any battery-powered lock.
The lock can hold 20 individual codes of 4 to 10 digits. Veise suggests giving separate codes to family, friends and visitors, and it also describes a one-time code for someone such as a pet sitter, delivery person or housekeeper. Longer codes are generally harder to guess, and separate codes make it easy to remove one person's access without changing everyone else's.
Auto-lock and manual lock
The deadbolt can lock itself 10 to 99 seconds after the door is closed. To lock by hand from outside, you press and hold any key for two seconds. Auto-lock is handy for people who forget to lock up, and for short-term rental rooms and apartments, which Veise names as suitable uses.
Weather resistance and batteries
The lock is classed IP54. In general, that means it is protected against limited dust and splashing water, which suits a covered porch but is not the same as being fully submersible. Power comes from four AA batteries. Veise says they should last more than 300 days at up to 10 uses a day, and a low-battery indicator gives warning before they run out. Real battery life varies with temperature and use.
Style and where it can be used
The oval lever handles and bronze finish give it a traditional look. Veise suggests it for front, back, side, bedroom, garage and laundry doors, as well as rental rooms and apartments. Check that the finish and handle style match the other hardware on your doors.
Will it fit your door?
Fit depends on measurements, so check these against the specifications:
- Door thickness: 1.38 to 2 inches (35 to 50 mm).
- Cross-bore hole: 2.13 inches (54 mm).
- Latch backset: adjustable from 2.36 to 2.76 inches (60 to 70 mm).
Veise says no extra drilling is needed for a door that already has these standard holes, and installation takes only a screwdriver. If your door has no holes, or non-standard ones, you will need extra work.
Warranty and support
Veise states at least a one-year warranty, phone support on weekdays from 9 AM to 5 PM Pacific time, and email service at any hour.
Who it suits
It suits homeowners replacing a standard key lock, landlords and hosts who want to change access without handing over keys, and families tired of lost keys. People who want remote control from a phone should look at the brand's app-connected models instead, as this listing describes a keypad lock.
What to check before you buy
- Door measurements: thickness, hole size and backset, as listed above.
- Handle side: the listing includes handles; confirm they suit your door's layout and swing.
- Certifications: the listing does not state a security grade, so check the packaging or manual if your insurer, landlord or local codes require one.
- Codes and batteries: keep spare AA batteries and the backup key somewhere safe but accessible.
- Codes and rules: follow the manual and your local building and fire codes, especially for doors that are part of an escape route.
