The Lockly Secure Plus is a keyless smart deadbolt for front doors, rentals and offices. It lets people in with a fingerprint, a keypad code or a standard key, and it can send lock alerts to your phone. Here is what each feature means and what to check before fitting one.
Three ways to unlock
Lockly lists a PIN Genie digital keypad, a 3D biometric fingerprint sensor and a physical key. Having a mechanical backup means a flat battery or a network problem doesn't have to leave anyone outside.
The fingerprint sensor
The second-generation 3D sensor recognises a finger in 0.3 seconds and unlocks in 0.5 seconds, according to Lockly, and stores up to 99 fingerprints. The brand says its sensor has granted over 100 million accesses. A larger capacity is helpful if several family members, tenants or staff need their own prints.
PIN Genie keypad
The patented keypad has four virtual buttons, each showing three numbers. The layout changes after each use, which means your finger positions don't reveal the digits of your code. Lockly describes it as peek-proof.
Offline Access Codes
You can issue offline access codes to trusted people for a set period, and these work without Wi-Fi or an internet connection at the lock. That suits guests, tradespeople or short-term rentals.
Alerts and monitoring
Real-time alerts to your smartphone show the lock's status from anywhere, but Lockly notes that an additional Wi-Fi hub is needed. Without the hub, the lock still works locally.
Auto lock and rekeying
The listing names an auto lock feature, so the bolt can re-engage after use; check the manual on how to set the delay. Rekeying is supported: with a standard rekey kit you can replace the key cylinder without replacing the whole lock, useful if a key goes missing.
Installation and warranty
Lockly provides a detailed installation guide and says common household tools are enough. It lists a five-year mechanical and finish warranty, a two-year electronics warranty and lifetime technical support. The lock measures about 7.4 x 3.1 x 4.5 inches (19 x 8 x 11 cm) and weighs 1.0 lb in its packaging.
Who it suits
It suits homeowners, landlords and small offices that want keyless entry with a mechanical backup and the option of remote alerts.
What to check before you buy
- Door fit: check door thickness, bore size and backset against the installation guide.
- Hub: remote alerts need the extra Wi-Fi hub.
- Users: plan who gets a fingerprint, who gets a code and who keeps a key.
- Batteries: check the type and low-battery behaviour in the manual.
- Codes and rules: follow your local building codes, any lease rules and the manual's installation steps.
- Finish: confirm Matte Black suits your hardware.
