The YOWHICK DP03 is a portable smart projector with WiFi, Bluetooth and a native 1920 x 1080 resolution. It's built for movies, games and presentations on a large wall or screen, indoors or outdoors, and it connects to phones, laptops, game consoles and streaming sticks.
Resolution and the "4K" label
The listing's name says 4K, but YOWHICK states the real native resolution is 1920 x 1080 (1080P). The 4K label refers to input support: in general, a projector can accept a 4K signal and scale it down to its native panel. If sharpness matters to you, the native figure is the one to go by.
Brightness and contrast
YOWHICK lists a 20000:1 contrast ratio and 12000 lumens. Lumens measure brightness, and the figure matters because ambient light washes out a projected image. Brightness numbers on this class of projector are not always measured to the same standard, so treat 12000 as the maker's figure, and expect the best picture in a dim or dark room. A 6-layer coated lens is described as restoring true colour.
Screen size and placement
The projector throws an image from 40 to 400 inches at a distance of 3.6 to 29 feet. A larger image needs more distance, and the picture gets dimmer as it grows. Placement tools include:
- Keystone correction of ±15°, which squares up the image when the projector isn't straight on to the screen.
- Zoom down to 50%, which shrinks the picture without moving the projector.
It can sit on a desk, a tripod or a ceiling mount.
Connections
YOWHICK lists dual-band WiFi (WiFi 6 or 2.4G), Bluetooth 5.3, and built-in HDMI, USB, AV, TF card and 3.5mm headphone ports. That covers phones (iPhone, Android), Windows laptops, USB sticks, TV sticks and consoles like the PS5.
The brand notes that, because of copyright limits, streaming services may not mirror wirelessly from a phone. To show them, connect a laptop with an HDMI cable.
Sound
Two built-in speakers are included. Bluetooth 5.3 can pair with external speakers or headphones for better audio. Projector speakers are typically modest, so a separate speaker may help for movies outdoors.
Auto turn-off
You can set a timer so the projector shuts itself down after a chosen time, handy if you fall asleep.
Who it suits
It suits people who want a big screen for occasional movie nights, backyard viewing or gaming, and who have a darkened room or a calm evening outdoors. It is a general entertainment projector, not a replacement for a dedicated home cinema or a conference-room unit.
What to check before you buy
- Native resolution: this is 1080P, whatever the 4K label suggests.
- Room light: a dark room gives the best result.
- Distance: measure the throw distance for your screen size.
- Screen surface: a white wall or a proper screen works better than a coloured wall.
- Streaming: plan an HDMI source, such as a stick or laptop.
- Power and setup: check the manual for power needs, a tripod thread and cable length.
