WAVLINK 570HA1 AC600 Outdoor WiFi Access Point: features and specs

The WAVLINK 570HA1 is a weatherproof, PoE-powered AC600 dual-band outdoor access point, router and repeater. What its specs mean and what to check first.

The WAVLINK 570HA1 is an outdoor wireless unit that works as an access point, a router or a repeater. It is built to be mounted outside, powered through its network cable, and used to carry a Wi-Fi signal to places the indoor router can't reach, such as a courtyard, a campsite pitch, an RV or a farm building.

Three modes in one unit

WAVLINK says the 570HA1 can be switched between Repeater, Router and Access Point (AP) modes. Each suits a different situation:

  • Repeater picks up an existing Wi-Fi network and rebroadcasts it, extending coverage without running a cable.
  • Access point takes a wired connection and turns it into Wi-Fi, which suits an outbuilding with a cable run back to the house.
  • Router lets the unit share a single incoming connection with its own network.

The listing adds a practical tip for repeater use: choose a source network with a signal strength above 70%, and mount the antenna about 2 metres above the roof line or in a high, open spot for better reception.

What AC600 and dual band mean

"AC600" is a combined label. The unit uses 802.11ac Wi-Fi and is rated at up to 433Mbps on the 5GHz band and 150Mbps on the 2.4GHz band. Those are theoretical link rates, and real-world throughput is typically lower. The WAN port runs at 100Mbps, so that is the practical ceiling for a wired connection through it.

In general, 2.4GHz travels farther and passes through obstacles better, while 5GHz is faster over shorter distances. WAVLINK also notes that an extender is meant to improve coverage and signal reliability, not directly raise speed.

Power over Ethernet

The 570HA1 supports PoE, so power and data travel together on one RJ-45 cable. That matters outdoors, where finding a power outlet near the mounting spot can be the hard part. You will need a compatible PoE source, such as a PoE injector or switch, at the indoor end of the cable. Check the manual for the supported PoE type and voltage before buying.

Built for the weather

The enclosure is rated IP65, which generally means it is sealed against dust and water jets. WAVLINK gives an operating range of -30°C to 70°C (-22°F to 158°F) and lists 15KV ESD and 4KV lightning protection. Protection levels of this kind reduce risk but don't make a device immune, so follow the manual on mounting, grounding and cable sealing.

Power and range

The unit has a built-in amplifier rated at up to 600mW, and WAVLINK says its receiver design increases transmission power by a factor of five compared with ordinary outdoor extenders. The brand positions it for open areas such as farms and campsites. Actual range depends heavily on trees, walls, terrain and the devices connecting to it.

Size and weight

It measures about 2.4 x 4.8 x 11.3 inches (6 x 12 x 29 cm) and weighs around 1 lb (about 0.45 kg), light enough for a pole or wall mount.

Who it suits

It suits owners of larger properties, RV and campsite users, and anyone who needs a weatherproof Wi-Fi point at the end of a single cable run.

What to check before you buy

  • PoE source: confirm you have, or will buy, a compatible PoE injector or switch.
  • Cable run: check the distance and cable type between the indoor equipment and the mounting spot.
  • Source signal: in repeater mode, the unit can only extend a signal it can already receive well.
  • Speed expectations: the 100Mbps WAN port and the 150/433Mbps wireless rates set the upper limits.
  • Mounting: confirm the hardware fits your pole or wall, and follow local electrical codes and the manual.

The short version

  • A weatherproof (IP65) AC600 dual-band unit with Repeater, Router and AP modes.
  • Up to 433Mbps on 5GHz and 150Mbps on 2.4GHz, with a 100Mbps WAN port.
  • Powered over Ethernet, with a 600mW amplifier and surge protection listed.
  • Operates from -30°C to 70°C according to WAVLINK.
  • Needs a PoE source and good placement to perform as intended.
