The VEVOR HT-W6412 is a 12U open frame rack for housing network and AV equipment. It stands on the floor on casters or mounts on a wall, and its depth adjusts so it can hold gear of different sizes. It suits small offices, classrooms, retail spaces and home setups.
What 12U means
Rack space is measured in units, written U, and one U is 1.75 inches (44.45 mm) of vertical mounting space. A 12U rack therefore offers about 21 inches (53 cm) of mounting height. Standard 19-inch equipment such as switches, patch panels, routers and amplifiers bolts into it. Open frame racks, unlike enclosed cabinets, have no side or door panels, so you can reach ports from several sides and air moves freely around the equipment.
Adjustable depth
The depth adjusts from 23 to 40 inches (about 58 to 102 cm). That range matters because rack equipment varies, with short network switches at one end and deeper servers or AV amplifiers at the other. The four-post design supports a device at both front and back, which is how deeper equipment is usually held. VEVOR says the open layout leaves room for cabling and access to equipment from multiple sides.
Load capacity
VEVOR rates the rack at 200 lb (about 91 kg) when standing on the ground and 100 lb (about 45 kg) when wall-mounted. The frame is carbon steel. Add up the weight of your equipment, and for a wall mount, check that the wall and fixings can carry the load; the manual and a qualified installer can advise on this.
Moving it and using the top
Four casters let you roll the rack around. VEVOR also mentions an additional top panel that can hold other items. Because it is on wheels, you can pull it out to reach cabling at the back.
What's in the box
The listing includes two pallets (shelves), 145 M5 x 10 cross-head screws, four casters, four M10 x 50 expansion screws, ten M6 x 12 cage nuts, a grounding wire and a user manual. The expansion screws are for wall mounting. Cage nuts are the square nuts that clip into rack holes to take equipment screws.
Size
The item measures about 27.8 x 23.8 x 6.5 inches in the listing and weighs 31.2 lb (about 14 kg).
Who it suits
It suits home labs, small business network closets, AV installations and classrooms where space is limited. Larger server rooms often use enclosed, lockable cabinets instead.
What to check before you buy
- Equipment size: confirm the depth of your deepest device falls in the 23-40 in range.
- Rack units: add up the U height of everything you plan to mount.
- Weight: compare total equipment weight with the 200 lb floor or 100 lb wall limit.
- Wall mounting: check your wall type and use suitable fixings for it.
- Airflow and noise: open frames offer no sound dampening, and equipment still needs ventilation.
- Security: no panels or doors, so consider where it will sit.
- Grounding: a grounding wire is included; follow local electrical codes and the manual.
