The Reolink TrackMix LTE + Solar Panel is an outdoor security camera designed for places with no mains power and no WiFi. It connects over a 4G cellular network and recharges from a solar panel. It also has two lenses and can pan, tilt and follow movement. Here is what that means in practice.
Cellular instead of WiFi
Most home cameras rely on a WiFi router. This model uses a SIM card and 4G LTE, so it can work on a rural property, a construction site or anywhere else out of WiFi range. Reolink says the included SIM connects to the carrier with the strongest signal and supports AT&T and T-Mobile in the US. The Reolink app is used to refill the SIM and to track data use. The listing is clear that this is the 4G version and it does not connect over WiFi. Coverage depends on where you place it, so check signal at the spot first.
Solar power
Reolink pairs the camera with a solar panel, which is meant to keep it running without a mains socket. How well that works depends on sunlight: panel angle, shade, season and latitude all matter. In general, a spot that sees direct sun for a good part of the day keeps a battery-powered camera topped up much better than a shaded one.
Two lenses, one screen
A wide-angle lens shows the full scene, and a telephoto lens gives a close-up. Reolink says together they provide 6X hybrid zoom, and the app can show the wide view and the detail view on one screen. Hybrid zoom typically combines optical and digital methods, so the sharpest detail is at the lower end of the range.
Pan, tilt and auto tracking
The camera pans 355° and tilts 90°, which Reolink describes as covering a full 360° view. It can also track a moving subject and zoom in on it automatically, which can keep a person or vehicle in frame without manual control.
4K video and night vision
The 8MP (4K) resolution is meant to capture fine detail. At night it offers infrared black-and-white vision, and a spotlight mode for colour night vision. Spotlight colour typically gives more detail than infrared but lights up the area, which people nearby can see.
Alerts
The camera can tell people, vehicles and pets from other movement and send relevant alerts. Reolink lists email, app push notifications and a siren.
Size
It measures about 9.0 x 5.8 x 5.1 inches (23 x 15 x 13 cm).
Who it suits
It suits owners of cabins, farms, work sites and driveways far from a router, where running power and network cable isn't practical.
What to check before you buy
- Signal: confirm that a supported carrier covers the mounting site.
- Sunlight: choose a position where the panel gets regular sun.
- Data plan: read the SIM terms, usage limits and how renewal works.
- Mounting: plan a secure, weather-appropriate fixing and follow the manual.
- Privacy and law: check local rules on filming and on recording near neighbours or public areas.
- Region: the listing names US carriers, so check compatibility outside the US.
