The REOLINK TrackMix is a wire-free outdoor camera with two lenses and a pan-and-tilt mount, sold with a 6W solar panel. One lens gives a wide view while the other zooms in on whatever moves. Because it is battery and solar powered and connects over Wi-Fi, it can be placed where no power outlet is nearby.
Two lenses, two views
A 2.8mm wide-angle lens gives a panoramic view, and an 8mm telephoto lens captures close-up detail. The app shows both views on one screen. A shorter focal length like 2.8mm sees more of the scene, and a longer one like 8mm sees less but magnifies it. The listing notes that continuous streaming is not supported, as this is a battery-powered model.
Auto tracking and 8x hybrid zoom
The wide-angle lens pans and tilts to follow a target, while the telephoto lens zooms in for detail. REOLINK says the close-up view delivers 2MP or 4K automatically, and that there are three tracking modes to choose from. Hybrid zoom generally mixes optical and digital magnification, so sharpness typically drops at the top end.
4K colour night vision
The camera records at 4K (8MP). A built-in motion spotlight helps it show colour detail at night, which infrared alone generally can't do. The spotlight does light the scene, so think about where it points.
Solar and Wi-Fi power
It runs on 2.4/5GHz Wi-Fi and is continuously powered by the new 6W solar panel, according to the listing, which means less frequent battery charging. Output varies with sunlight, and a camera that tracks and records often will use more energy. Follow the manual for panel placement.
Storage without a subscription
Recordings can be saved to a 512GB microSD card for local storage. You can expand to up to 16TB with a Reolink Home Hub or Home Hub Pro. The microSD card and the hub are sold separately. The listing describes the options as subscription-free.
Who it suits
It suits yards, driveways, barns and outbuildings where one camera should show the whole scene and also zoom in on detail, and where there is good sun and Wi-Fi. It is less suited to anyone needing a continuous live stream.
What to check before you buy
- Wi-Fi signal: check the strength at the mounting spot on 2.4GHz or 5GHz.
- Sunlight: the panel needs regular direct light.
- microSD card: it is sold separately, so choose a card for your storage needs.
- No continuous streaming: confirm motion-based recording and live view on demand fit your use.
- Spotlight: consider neighbours and where the beam falls.
- Privacy and local rules: check rules on recording public areas or neighbouring property.
