The AOSU L7P combines a wireless security camera with a wall light and a detachable solar panel. It mounts on an outdoor wall, lights up the area when it gets dark, and sends alerts to a phone when it detects people, vehicles or pets. Because it is battery powered and solar charged, it doesn't need a wired outlet. Here is how the pieces fit together.
Camera and light in one
AOSU says the L7P pairs a 400-lumen wall light with the camera. The light turns on automatically at night, and the brand describes it as bright enough for safety but soft enough not to bother neighbours. Lumens measure light output, and 400 lumens is typically enough for a doorway, gate or small patio rather than a whole yard. The light can be a visible deterrent too.
Picture quality and night vision
The camera records at 5MP, which AOSU calls 3K Ultra HD. Higher resolution gives more detail when you zoom in on a recording, such as a face or a number plate, though image quality also depends on distance and lighting. AOSU also lists colour night vision, which shows full-colour footage in the dark rather than a black-and-white image. Colour night vision usually works with help from a light source, which is where the built-in wall light fits in.
Solar power and battery
The camera has a built-in battery and a detachable solar panel. AOSU says about 1.5 hours of sunlight a day keeps it fully powered, and that in energy-saving mode the battery can last up to 4 months. Those are the brand's figures, and real results vary with climate, shading and how often the camera triggers. The panel detaches so that it can be placed in a sunny spot even when the camera itself is in shade.
AI detection and alerts
AOSU lists AI motion detection that tells people, vehicles and pets apart, aimed at reducing false alarms from things like passing shadows. A fence perimeter feature detects fences, walls and vehicles to build a virtual boundary, and sends an alert if something crosses it. There's also two-way audio, so you can speak through the camera from your phone, and a voice changer for added privacy.
Setup and connectivity
Installation takes three screws. The camera pairs over Bluetooth and then connects to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi through a phone. That means a 5GHz-only network won't work, so check your router. AOSU says the camera works with Alexa and Google Assistant for voice control. The unit measures about 6.9 x 4.9 x 8.1 inches (roughly 17.5 x 12.4 x 20.6 cm).
Who it suits
It suits homeowners who want lighting and a camera on a wall with no wiring, such as at a side gate, garage, shed or back fence, and people who prefer a battery-and-solar camera.
What to check before you buy
- Sunlight: find a spot for the solar panel with regular daylight.
- Wi-Fi: check the signal reaches the mounting spot, and that 2.4GHz is available.
- Privacy rules: point the camera only at your own property and check local rules on recording and audio.
- Storage and app: check how recordings are stored and what the app asks of you.
- Mounting surface: confirm your wall takes three screws.
