The eufy Security Outdoor Cam E220 (model T8441X) is a wired outdoor security camera with 2K video, a built-in spotlight and on-device AI. It records to a microSD card inside the camera, so it can work without a monthly subscription. It is meant for watching a porch, driveway, side gate or yard from a phone.

What 2K resolution gives you

2K video is a step above 1080p, with more pixels to show detail such as a face or a number plate at a moderate distance. The lens has an F2.0 aperture. In general, a lower f-number lets in more light, which helps in dim conditions. eufy Security says this produces vivid images. Real-world clarity still depends on distance, angle and lighting.

Spotlight and colour night vision

Many cameras switch to black-and-white infrared at night. The E220 has a built-in spotlight that comes on when it detects relevant motion, so the camera can keep recording in full colour even in low light. A spotlight can also draw attention to the camera and the area, which some people prefer and others find too visible. Aim it so it doesn't shine into a neighbour's windows.

On-device AI and fewer false alerts

The camera processes images on board instead of sending everything to a server. eufy Security says this leads to faster decisions and more accurate detection with fewer false alerts. The listing describes motion-only alerts. As with any motion detection, trees, headlights and passing animals can still cause events, so most people adjust zones and sensitivity in the app.

Local storage

A 32GB microSD card is included, and recordings are kept on it. eufy Security says there are no monthly fees for this approach. Local storage has trade-offs worth knowing: recordings are limited by card capacity, older footage is typically overwritten, and the footage lives with the camera.

Power, mounting and weather

This is a wired camera with a 20-foot (about 6 m) cable and a magnetic mount, which is meant to make it simple to position and adjust. It needs a power source within reach of the cable, so plan the route, especially if the cable has to pass through a wall or a window. The camera is small, about 2.6 x 2.6 x 2.3 inches.

The IP67 class in the listing means, in general, that the housing is dust-tight and can withstand temporary immersion in water, which makes rain and snow less of a concern. Check the manual for the temperature range and for how to weatherproof the cable connection.

Who it suits

It suits homeowners and renters who want a camera for a specific outdoor spot, who prefer to keep recordings locally, and who have an outlet within reach.

What to check before you buy

  • Power: confirm where the cable will run and whether the 20-foot length is enough.
  • Wi-Fi: check the signal where the camera will sit.
  • Placement: point it at your own property, and follow local rules on recording and neighbours' privacy.
  • Storage: think about how many days of footage the card will hold.
  • Mounting: check the surface and the manual for secure installation.
