The Reolink Duo 3 WiFi is an outdoor security camera with two lenses side by side, combined into a single 180° view. One camera can cover a whole yard, a driveway or the side of a house that might otherwise need two or three fixed cameras. It runs on plug-in power, connects over Wi-Fi 6 and records to a microSD card.
Two 4K sensors, one 180° panorama
Each lens has its own 4K image sensor, and together they deliver 16MP video. The camera stitches the two images into one seamless 180° panorama, which Reolink says has minimal distortion.
A single very wide lens, such as a fisheye, typically bends straight lines towards the edges of the picture. Splitting the view between two lenses lets each one cover a narrower angle, which keeps the image looking more natural. The 16MP figure matters because those pixels are spread across a very wide scene: roughly speaking, each half of the panorama gets the detail of a 4K camera.
Motion Track
Motion Track shows the full movement path of a person or object in one frame. Instead of scrubbing through a clip to see where someone came from and where they went, you can see the route at a glance. That suits a wide view like this one, where a person may cross the whole frame.
Night vision: colour or infrared
At night, eight spotlights and an F1.6 aperture capture full-colour detail. The aperture number describes how wide the lens opens: the lower the number, the more light reaches the sensor, which helps in dim conditions.
You can also switch to infrared mode, which records in black and white without visibly lighting the area. Colour footage can show details such as the colour of a car or a jacket, while infrared avoids shining bright lights towards a neighbour's windows.
Smart detection and deterrence
Smart detection tells people, vehicles and animals apart to reduce false alarms. Plain motion detection can be set off by branches, shadows and passing headlights; detection that recognises what is moving typically cuts down on those alerts. You can also customise the siren, the spotlights and voice messages to deter intruders.
Setup, Wi-Fi 6 and installation
Setup starts with a wired connection. You power the camera with its 12V/2A adapter, connect it to your router with an Ethernet cable, complete the setup in the Reolink app, then unplug the Ethernet cable and use Wi-Fi. That means the camera needs to be within cable reach of the router while you set it up.
It connects over Wi-Fi 6 on the 5 GHz band. In general, 5 GHz is fast but has a shorter range than 2.4 GHz and passes through walls less easily, so it's worth testing the signal where the camera will go. Video is recorded locally to a microSD card of up to 512GB.
The housing is IP67 weatherproof, which means it's dust-tight and built to handle rain and harsh weather. It mounts on a wall or a ceiling, and it suits yards, driveways and other wide outdoor areas where power is within reach of the mounting spot.
What to check before you buy
- Power: it's a plug-in camera, so check where the cable will run; an outlet used outdoors should be suitable for outdoor use.
- Wi-Fi signal: check that your router's 5 GHz signal reaches the mounting spot.
- Setup: plan for a temporary Ethernet connection to the router.
- Storage: check whether a microSD card is included and what capacity you need.
- Privacy: a 180° view covers a lot; aim it at your own property, and check local rules on recording neighbours or public areas.
