The Reolink Duo 2V PoE is a wired dome security camera that joins two lenses into a single 180° picture at 8MP (4K) resolution. It is built for outdoor and exposed spots, draws its power over the network cable, and sends alerts when it sees people, vehicles or animals. Here is what its specs mean.
Two lenses, one wide view
Reolink says the two lenses together give a 180° panoramic view and the functionality of two cameras in one. A single wide image like this typically covers a yard, driveway or entrance with one mounting point and one cable run, rather than two separate cameras. Resolution is 8MP, which gives more detail for zooming into recordings than a typical 1080p camera.
The dome has a built-in rotation bracket so you can adjust the lens direction by hand. Reolink is clear that it has no software-controlled pan and tilt.
Power and connection over PoE
PoE (Power over Ethernet) delivers both data and power through a single network cable. That keeps installation tidy, but it needs a PoE source. The listing states that the PoE NVR, switch or injector and a DC power adapter are not included, so plan for one of those.
Smart detection and alerts
The camera recognises people, vehicles and animals and can send alerts by app push notification, email or an NVR buzzer. It can also record motion clips and upload them to an FTP server. Detection of this kind is intended to cut down on alerts from passing shadows or leaves, though results depend on placement and settings.
Night vision
You can switch between infrared night vision and colour night vision. For colour, a built-in spotlight can be set to switch on with motion or on a schedule, with adjustable brightness. The lens has an F1.6 aperture, which Reolink says improves performance in low light; a wider aperture lets in more light.
Weather and tamper resistance
Reolink rates the camera IP67 for weather resistance, which in general means protection against dust and temporary immersion in water. It is also rated IK10, the highest level on the IK impact scale, aimed at spots where tampering is a concern. The listed operating range is 14°F to 113°F (about -10°C to 45°C).
Recording, talk and access
Footage can be stored on a microSD card, a compatible Reolink NVR, an FTP server or a NAS. The camera supports multiple-user access, smart playback and two-way talk. Reolink lists compatible NVR models (N7MB01, N6MB01, N5MB01, H3MB18, N2MB02 and N3MB01) running the latest firmware.
Who it suits
It suits homeowners and small businesses that want wide coverage from one wired camera and are happy to run a network cable. It fits especially well where a Reolink NVR or other PoE equipment is already in place.
What to check before you buy
- PoE source: confirm you have a compatible PoE switch, injector or NVR, as none is included.
- Cable route: plan the Ethernet run and the mounting position, including height and reach.
- Storage: decide between microSD, NVR, FTP or NAS, and check any card or drive requirements.
- Fixed direction: the lens is aimed by hand, so aim carefully at installation.
- Privacy and rules: check local rules on recording, particularly where the view covers neighbouring property or public space.
- Installation: follow the manual and local electrical and building codes.
