The REOLINK Duo 2 PoE is a wired outdoor camera that joins two lenses into one 180° picture in 4K. It gets power and data through a single Ethernet cable, so it suits backyards, driveways and other wide areas where a single normal camera leaves gaps.
Two lenses, one wide view
Two lenses are combined into one view, giving a 180° panorama. REOLINK says this captures finer detail in 4K with less distortion. For a driveway or yard, a wide panorama can replace two separate cameras. As with any wide-angle lens, subjects at the far edges of the frame appear small.
What PoE means
PoE (Power over Ethernet) delivers power and video over the same network cable. There is no battery to recharge and no separate power outlet at the camera. You do need to route Ethernet from the camera to a PoE-capable switch, injector or recorder, which can take some planning. The listing advises routing network cables in areas with minimal rainwater exposure, or fitting a junction box for extra protection.
Smart detection and alerts
The camera distinguishes people, vehicles and pets, so it is less likely to alert you for moving branches or flying insects. When it detects something, it can send push and email alerts, and you can check in through the REOLINK app. The listing says there are no extra fees for remote access.
Deterrence: spotlights, siren and two-way talk
On detecting suspicious activity, the camera can switch on spotlights and sound a siren. Two-way talk lets you speak a warning through the camera. Whether this is suitable at your property depends on neighbours and local noise rules.
Colour night vision and weatherproofing
Motion spotlights help the camera produce full-colour images at night. The listing describes it as IP66 waterproof. In general, IP66 means the housing is dust-tight and resists powerful jets of water, but the connectors and cable still need care, which is why the listing recommends the junction box.
Who it suits
It suits owners with a covered cable route who want a wide, detailed view of a yard, driveway or building front. It is less suited to places where running Ethernet is not practical.
What to check before you buy
- Cable route: plan Ethernet from the camera to a PoE source, and protect outdoor connections.
- PoE source: confirm you have a PoE switch, injector or compatible recorder.
- Spotlight and siren use: consider neighbours and local rules.
- Mounting spot: check the 180° view covers the area you want.
- Storage: check how footage will be recorded and stored.
- Privacy and local rules: check rules on recording public areas or neighbouring property.
