The NETGEAR GS324TP (model GS324TP-100NAS) is a smart managed switch from the S350 series. It has 24 Gigabit Ethernet ports that all supply PoE+ power, plus two 1G SFP ports. It is built for small offices, shops and similar sites that want to power phones, access points or cameras through the network cable while keeping control over how traffic flows.
Ports and PoE+ power
Twenty-four Gigabit copper ports handle wired devices at up to 1 Gbps. NETGEAR lists all 24 as PoE+, which means each port can send power to a device over the cable. PoE+ (IEEE 802.3at) typically supplies up to about 30W per port, enough for most access points, IP phones and many cameras.
The total PoE power is 190W, shared across the ports. If every port were to deliver full PoE+ power, the supply would run out long before the 24th device, so it helps to add up what you plan to connect. Many phones and cameras use well under 15W each, which makes 190W go further.
SFP slots
Two 1G SFP ports sit alongside the copper ports. SFP slots take pluggable modules, typically used to link to another switch, a building or a server over fibre, or as a second copper uplink. The modules are chosen to match your cabling.
What "smart managed" means
NETGEAR describes the software as an easy-to-use interface for managed control, with secure setup and access, and SNMP management through its NMS 300 tool. In general, smart managed switches offer features such as VLANs, port settings and monitoring through a web interface, without the full command-line depth of higher-end managed models.
Desktop or rack
The switch supports desktop or rackmount placement, and NETGEAR says the mounting hardware is in the box. It measures 8.1 x 13.0 x 1.7 inches (about 21 x 33 x 4.3 cm) and weighs 5.9 lb (about 2.7 kg), so it fits a standard 1U rack slot or a shelf.
Noise and efficiency
NETGEAR quotes an acoustic noise level of 32.8 dBA at 25°C and calls the operation quiet. Around 30 to 35 dBA is typically comparable to a quiet room, though real noise depends on how hard the fans work under heavy PoE loads. The design complies with IEEE 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet.
Warranty
NETGEAR lists a five-year limited hardware warranty.
Who it suits
It suits a small business, school or workshop with many PoE devices. A desk with just a few wired devices will rarely need 24 PoE+ ports.
What to check before you buy
- PoE power: total the wattage of your devices against 190W.
- Management needs: confirm that the smart managed feature set covers your VLAN and monitoring needs.
- Uplinks: buy SFP modules that match your fibre or cable type, if you plan to use them.
- Location: think about noise if it will sit in an occupied room, and allow airflow.
- Cabling: use suitable Ethernet cable for PoE runs, and follow the manual and local electrical codes.
The short version
- 24 Gigabit PoE+ ports plus two 1G SFP slots.
- 190W total PoE power, shared across ports.
- Smart managed software with SNMP management through NMS 300.
- Desktop or rackmount, with hardware included.
- 32.8 dBA noise level, IEEE 802.3az support and a five-year limited warranty.
