The NEBULA Mars 3 (model D2333) is a portable 1080p projector with a built-in battery, speaker and Android TV. It is designed to move between a living room, a backyard and a campsite without needing a separate streaming box or speakers.
What 1000 ANSI lumens means
ANSI lumens is a standardised way of measuring a projector's brightness, so figures can be compared more fairly than with unmarked "lumens". NEBULA rates the Mars 3 at 1000 ANSI lumens with a maximum image size of 200 inches. In general, that is enough for a clear picture in a dim room or after dusk, while direct daylight will wash out any projector of this class. Image size and brightness work against each other: the larger you project, the dimmer the picture appears.
Built-in battery and RoamPower
The Mars 3 has a 185Wh battery, which NEBULA calls RoamPower. The brand says it provides about five hours of movie playback or 15 hours of music. It can also act as a power bank to charge smart devices. Watching for longer than the rated time means plugging the unit in, so plan on a power source for long films or multi-film evenings.
Android TV and casting
Android TV 11.0 is built in, so apps can be installed directly on the projector. NEBULA says this opens up more than 7,000 apps and 400,000 movies and shows. It also works with Chromecast and Google features, so phones can send content to it. As with all streaming, availability of particular services depends on your region and subscriptions.
Setup in about three seconds
Portable projectors can be fiddly to align. NEBULA says its intelligent sensor completes autofocus, keystone correction (squaring up a skewed image) and Screen Fit in three seconds. It also describes AI that adjusts screen brightness automatically to suit conditions.
Built for outdoors
The listing describes IPX3 water resistance, 0.5 m drop resistance and 0.7 mm dust resistance, plus a built-in stand, lens cover, camping light, power indicator, integrated controls and a carry handle. IPX3 typically means protection from light spray, not heavy rain or immersion, so use it under cover if the weather turns. The unit weighs 9.9 lb (about 4.5 kg) and measures 6.3 x 10.2 x 9.8 inches.
Sound
A 40W speaker with Dolby Digital Plus is built in. That avoids the need for extra gear on a camping trip, though a large group or windy night may benefit from an external speaker.
Who it suits
The Mars 3 suits people who want a flexible screen for backyard movies, camping, small presentations or business use, and who prefer an all-in-one device. It's less suited to bright, daylight rooms where a high-brightness fixed projector is the usual answer.
What to check before you buy
- How dark your viewing space is, and what surface you will project on.
- Throw distance: how far the projector must sit to give your preferred image size.
- Whether 1080p is enough for you, since this is not a 4K model.
- How long your usual viewing sessions run compared with the battery figure.
- Which streaming apps you need and whether they work in your region.
- Where you will keep it and whether the 9.9 lb weight is comfortable to carry.
