The monTEK US-DS-TM1017LW-M is a full-motion wall mount for large televisions of 50 to 100 inches. Its arm extends up to 40 inches from the wall, so the screen can be pulled out and turned toward a seating area. This page explains what the specs mean and what to confirm about your TV and wall.

Weight capacity and frame

monTEK rates the mount for TVs up to 176 lb (about 80 kg). It uses a reinforced three-arm frame and, according to the brand, has passed 4X load-bearing tests. A metal safety lock is included. The mount weighs 34.1 lb (about 15.5 kg) itself, which is a sign of the heavy steel used, and the brand recommends a two-person lift when hanging a large TV.

Reach, swivel and tilt

The arm extends to 40 inches (about 100 cm). A long reach is useful where a TV sits in a corner or on a wall some distance from the seating. The listed movements are:

  • Swivel: ±90°
  • Tilt: +5° to -15°
  • Levelling: adjustable after installation

monTEK says all of these adjustments are tool-free, with no knobs or wrenches. Tilting down by 15° helps when the TV is mounted above eye level, as it often is above a fireplace.

VESA patterns and TV compatibility

VESA is the standard hole spacing on the back of a TV, written in millimetres, for example 400x400. The universal plate here spans 200x200 mm to 800x600 mm. monTEK says it suits LED, OLED, QLED and curved TVs from major brands. Check your TV's manual for its VESA pattern and weight before buying, as the brand itself asks.

The wall plate and wall types

The wall plate is oversized at 25.4 x 11.3 inches (about 64.5 x 28.7 cm), with three rows of mounting holes so that more fasteners can reach studs. It is designed for 16-, 18- and 24-inch stud spacing, and for concrete or brick. A mount this heavy depends on solid anchoring, so check the manual about wall construction and use the supplied hardware as directed.

Installation and what's in the box

The head unit comes largely preassembled with a quick-release system for hanging the TV. monTEK lists a drilling template, a bubble level, sorted hardware packs and hook-and-loop cable ties. The brand also gives a lifetime warranty and online support. Read the terms on its site.

Who it suits

It suits owners of large televisions who want to move the screen between seating areas or angle it away from glare. It is less useful for small rooms where a fixed or tilting mount would do the job.

What to check before you buy

  • TV weight and size: confirm that it falls within 50-100 inches and under 176 lb.
  • VESA pattern: make sure your TV's pattern is between 200x200 and 800x600 mm.
  • Wall construction: the mount needs studs, concrete or brick; local codes and the manual apply.
  • Stud spacing: compare your studs with the 16/18/24-inch layout.
  • Extension space: leave room for a 40-inch arm to swing out and fold back.
  • Cables: check that your HDMI and power cables are long enough when the arm is fully extended.
