The monTEK HW1277BK-S is a full-motion wall mount for large televisions, from 43 to 98 inches. Its long articulating arm lets a big screen pull away from the wall and turn toward the seating, which helps in open-plan rooms, corners and anywhere the sofa isn't straight in front of the wall.
What the weight and size limits mean
monTEK rates the mount for TVs up to 265 lb (about 120 kg) and says it was strength tested at four times that load. It is built from cold-rolled steel with 50 x 25 x 1.5 mm square tubing and a reinforced dual-arm design, which the brand says keeps the screen stable at full extension.
A mount's weight limit is a ceiling, not a target. Check your TV's weight, including any soundbar or other items that will hang from it, against that limit. Large TVs are also heavy at the end of a long arm, so the wall behind the mount matters as much as the mount itself.
Reach, swivel and tilt
The arm extends 27.7 inches (about 70 cm). monTEK compares this with typical mounts that reach around 16 inches and says it lets even a 98-inch TV swivel ±60° without the screen hitting the wall. That extra reach is what makes corner and deep-alcove positions workable.
Adjustment is tool-free. The screen tilts +5° / -15°, which is useful for cutting reflections from windows or lamps, especially when the TV is mounted high. After installation it can also be levelled by ±5°, so a slightly crooked wall plate can be corrected without taking the TV down. When pushed back, the mount sits about 3 inches from the wall.
Wall types and VESA patterns
The wall plate fits 16-, 18- and 24-inch stud spacings, and the listing also covers concrete and brick walls, with anchors included. A detachable VESA panel is designed so one person can attach the plate to the TV first and then lift the TV onto the wall. The brand quotes an installation time of under 30 minutes, though that depends on the wall and on how many people help.
VESA is the standard pattern of four screw holes on the back of a TV, given as width x height in millimetres. This mount covers patterns from 200 x 200 mm to 800 x 400 mm, including 300 x 300, 400 x 400 and 600 x 400, and monTEK says it fits flat and curved screens. A hardware kit and step-by-step guide are included.
Who it suits
It suits large living rooms, open-plan kitchens and dining areas, and spaces where the TV has to be visible from more than one spot. It is less useful where the TV will stay fixed and flat, since a simpler fixed or tilting mount is slimmer and uses less hardware.
What to check before you buy
- TV weight and size: confirm your TV is within 43-98 inches and 265 lb, and note its VESA pattern in the manual.
- Wall construction: find the studs and confirm their spacing. Drywall alone isn't a safe fixing for a mount like this, so follow the manual and local building practice.
- Space for the arm: check the wall area, nearby furniture and corners against the 27.7-inch extension.
- Cables and ports: make sure the TV's connectors remain reachable once it is mounted.
- What's in the box: check the hardware kit against your wall type, and use a stud finder and level.
