The monTEK TM1007W-LT is a tilting wall mount built for very large televisions, from 60 up to 120 inches. It holds the screen close to the wall, lets you angle it down a little, and is designed to take sets that are too heavy for ordinary brackets.
Strength and the one-piece wall plate
monTEK rates the mount for TVs up to 300 lb (about 136 kg) and says it was strength tested at four times that load. The wall plate is a single integrated piece, which the brand says avoids weak joints and wobble. A single plate also makes it easier to line up the holes, since there are no separate rails to align.
The weight limit is a maximum, so compare your TV's weight, with the stand removed, against it. At this size, the wall and fixings do as much work as the mount.
Tilt and the pull-strap release
The mount tilts from -10° to +10° without tools. Tilting a screen down is mostly about reducing reflections from windows and lamps, and about aiming the picture at seated viewers when the TV is mounted high, as is common with 100-inch sets.
Quick-release pull straps let you lock the TV on the plate and then release it when you need to move it or reach the back. With a TV this large, take care with lifting: have help, and follow the manual.
Mounting on different walls
The listing says it fits 16-, 18- and 24-inch stud spacings and also concrete and brick. For 16-inch spacing, monTEK says to use three studs for the greatest safety. Consider that advice carefully, as it spreads the load across more of the wall.
When mounted, the TV sits about 3.1 inches from the wall, which gives the clean, flat look of a framed picture. A bubble level, a drilling template, a step-by-step guide and a video tutorial are included.
Understanding the VESA range
VESA is the standard pattern of four screw holes on the back of a TV, in millimetres. This mount covers 50 x 50 mm up to 900 x 600 mm, a wide span that includes most extra-large screens. monTEK says it works with LED, OLED and LCD TVs and names brands including Samsung, TCL, LG, Hisense, Vizio and Insignia. Always check the actual pattern in your TV's manual rather than relying on brand names.
Who it suits
It suits home theatres and big living rooms where the TV hangs in a fixed place facing the seating. Because it only tilts, it doesn't swing out or turn, so it fits best on a wall that is directly in front of the viewers. If you want the screen to angle left or right, or to reach into a corner, a full-motion mount is the better type.
The mount itself measures 39.6 x 8.7 x 3.1 inches and weighs 8.7 lb.
What to check before you buy
- TV size, weight and VESA pattern: confirm all three against 60-120 inches, 300 lb and 50 x 50 to 900 x 600 mm.
- Wall structure: locate studs, check the spacing, or use masonry fixings, and confirm the wall can carry the load. Follow local building codes and the manual.
- Placement: measure for the width of a 100-inch-class TV and the mount on the wall.
- Connections: check that ports and cables stay reachable at 3.1 inches from the wall.
- Helpers: plan for at least two people to lift the TV.
