The monTEK TM1011E-M is a motorized ceiling mount that lowers a TV from the ceiling and folds it back up. It takes screens from 32 to 75 inches and up to 121 lb. It suits rooms where wall space is taken, or where you want the TV out of sight when it isn't in use, such as a bedroom or a sloped-ceiling attic.

How the flip-down motion works

A motor drives the arm that carries the TV, so it swings down to a viewing angle and back up flat against the ceiling. monTEK gives the tilt range as 0° to 75° with ±2° of leveling, so you can choose a steep angle for lying in bed or a gentler one for sitting. The mount includes extension arms, which the listing says keep a 55, 65 or 75 inch TV clear of the wall as it moves.

monTEK says the mount has been tested for more than 20,000 extension cycles and 4× the rated load. These are brand claims; the rated limit of 121 lb is the figure to stay within.

Three ways to control it

The mount can be operated by:

  • a remote control;
  • a smartphone, through the Tuya app;
  • voice commands through Alexa or Google Home.

Voice and app control depend on your home network and the smart-home account, so check the setup steps in the manual. The remote works on its own.

Noise

monTEK describes the movement as quiet, giving a figure of under 50 dB. For reference, around 50 dB is roughly ordinary background conversation, though the sound you hear depends on the room.

VESA and TV fit

The mount covers 32 to 75 inch flat and curved TVs with VESA patterns from 200×100 mm to 600×400 mm, including sets whose mounting holes sit low on the back. Look up your TV's VESA pattern and weight in its manual. With a flip-down mount, the TV's thickness and the ports on the back matter for clearance.

Ceilings

The listing says it can be installed on concrete, brick or wood-stud ceilings, and works on flat or pitched ceilings. monTEK gives a fireplace as an example of where it could go. Fixing a heavy, moving load overhead is serious work, so follow the manual closely, use the supplied hardware, and check local building codes. If you're unsure about the ceiling structure or the wiring, a qualified installer is the standard advice.

Size and weight

The unit measures about 28.7 × 10.0 × 6.7 inches (73 × 25 × 17 cm) and weighs 24.1 lb before the TV is added. Plan lifting with more than one person.

Who it suits

It suits bedrooms, attic rooms, game rooms and spaces where wall mounting isn't possible, as well as people who like a hidden TV and hands-free control.
