The monTEK US-DS-MA1001PBK is a single monitor arm made for large and ultrawide displays, from 17 to 57 inches. It lifts the screen off the desk on a gas-spring arm that you can move with one hand. It suits workstations and gaming desks where the monitor is big and desk space is short.
What a gas-spring arm does
A gas spring balances the weight of the monitor so the arm moves smoothly and stays where you leave it. Instead of tightening knobs to hold position, you push the screen up, down, in or out, and it stays. monTEK says the spring has been tested more than 20,000 times, and that the design limits wobble. That is a brand test claim, but it's a good sign of what the arm is designed for: frequent repositioning.
Range of movement
monTEK lists a wide range of adjustment:
- Tilt: -75° to +75°.
- Swivel: ±90°.
- Rotation: ±90°, for landscape or portrait.
- Pole height: 15.3 inches of adjustment, with an arm height range of up to 25.5 inches (the title gives 8.1 to 25.5 inches).
- Extension: 22.2 inches, so you can pull the screen toward you or push it back.
In everyday use, this lets you set the top edge of the screen near eye level, bring it closer for detailed work, or push it out of the way. Sit-stand desks and shared desks also benefit from quick repositioning.
Size, VESA and compatibility
The arm supports 17 to 57 inch curved monitors, with VESA patterns of 75×75 mm or 100×100 mm. VESA is the standard hole spacing on the back of a monitor. The listing doesn't state a weight limit in this entry, so find it in the manual and compare it with your monitor's weight. Ultrawide screens can be heavy, and the arm should be matched to the screen. If your monitor has no VESA holes, you will need an adapter.
Construction
The arm is made of steel and aluminium. monTEK says it offers full 360° adjustment and describes the build as upgraded for stability. As a general rule, thicker steel at the clamp and joints keeps the screen steadier when you type or bump the desk.
Mounting and setup
Two mounting methods are supported: a C-clamp that grips the desk edge, and a grommet mount that goes through a hole in the desk. A quick-release VESA plate lets you attach and remove the monitor easily, and the parts are labelled for assembly. The clamp needs a desk with a solid edge and enough thickness and clearance. Glass, very thin or hollow desks may not suit, so check the manual for limits.
Who it suits
It suits people with a large or ultrawide monitor who want more desk space and a more flexible posture, including gamers, office workers and anyone with a compact desk.
What to check before you buy
- Monitor weight and size: compare with the manual's weight limit and the 17 to 57 inch range.
- VESA holes: confirm 75×75 or 100×100 mm.
- Desk edge: check thickness and clearance for the clamp, or the hole for the grommet.
- Wall behind the desk: allow for the extension and tilt, particularly for a deep screen.
- Cables: make sure they have enough slack for the full range.
