The ARES WING GDT1004WLBK is a wall-mounted monitor arm for a single screen, from 17 inches up to 49-inch ultrawides. Instead of a desk stand, the monitor hangs from the wall on an articulating arm, which frees desk space and lets you move the screen where you need it.
Size and weight range
ARES WING rates the arm for monitors from 17 to 49 inches and a load of up to 44 lb (about 20 kg). The brand says it is designed for ultrawide screens, including 1000R curved monitors. The mount's own weight is listed as 8.0 lb. Before buying, check your monitor's weight without its stand, since the arm carries only the screen.
VESA compatibility
The arm supports 75x75 mm and 100x100 mm VESA hole patterns, which are the standard square patterns on the back of most monitors. If your monitor doesn't have VESA holes, ARES WING says you will need a VESA adapter. Check the monitor's manual for the pattern and for the screw length that fits.
Range of movement
The brand lists:
- tilt from +50° to -20°
- 180° swivel
- 360° rotation (for portrait or landscape use)
- about 10 inches of height adjustment
- arm extension up to 23.9 inches (about 61 cm)
A gas spring inside the arm balances the monitor's weight so you can move it with a light touch and have it stay in place. ARES WING says the spring has been fatigue-tested more than 20,000 times. When you're not using the screen, the arm can fold in to about 5 inches (13 cm) from the wall.
Desk space and cables
Mounting on the wall leaves the desk clear. A built-in cable management system keeps cables out of sight along the arm. ARES WING says the structure uses steel and aluminium.
Installation
The package includes the hardware and instructions. ARES WING advises attaching the arm to a wood stud, solid concrete or a brick wall, and warns against fixing it to drywall or wood alone with anchors. Wall type decides what fixings you need. If you aren't sure what's behind your wall, find the studs with a stud finder or ask a professional. Follow the manual for torque and the weight limit.
Who it suits
It suits home offices, gaming setups and shared spaces where desk depth is limited or a large ultrawide screen needs more flexibility than a stand offers. It also works if you like to move the screen between sitting and standing positions, within the arm's reach.
What to check before you buy
- Wall: confirm there is a stud or masonry at the spot you want, at the height you want.
- Weight and size: confirm your monitor is within 44 lb and 17 to 49 inches.
- VESA pattern: check 75x75 or 100x100, or plan an adapter.
- Reach: measure the distance from wall to eye position, considering the 23.9-inch maximum extension.
- Outlets and cables: check cable lengths, and consider how far the cables must reach once the arm is extended.
- Curvature: very curved screens may need space to swing without hitting the wall.
