The ARES WING GDT1004P-2BK is a dual monitor desk mount that holds two screens on gas-spring arms. It is designed for the vertically stacked layout as well as side-by-side, and it takes screens from 17 to 49 inches, including ultrawide and 1000R curved monitors. Lifting the monitors off the desk frees surface space.
Weight and size limits
Each arm holds up to 44 lb (about 20 kg), according to ARES WING. The brand lists 17 to 49 inch screens. Check your monitor's weight without its stand, since the arm replaces the stand. Ultrawide models are heavy and wide, so make sure the weight is within the arm's stated limit.
VESA compatibility
The mount uses 75 x 75 mm and 100 x 100 mm VESA patterns, the standard hole layouts on the back of most monitors. ARES WING notes that if your monitor has no VESA holes, you need a VESA adapter. Quick-release VESA panels let you attach and remove screens without lifting them into place twice.
Gas spring movement
The gas spring is a sealed cylinder that balances the monitor's weight, so you can move the screen with a light push and it stays where you leave it. The brand says the spring has been fatigue-tested for more than 20,000 cycles. It usually has a tension adjustment, so check the manual for setting it to your monitor's weight.
Range of adjustment
ARES WING lists:
- height adjustment of up to 27.9 inches;
- arm extension of up to 22.4 inches;
- tilt from +50° to -20°;
- swivel of ±90°;
- 360° rotation.
Rotation lets you turn a screen into portrait mode, which suits coding or reading long documents. Stacking one monitor above the other is another layout, useful where desk width is limited.
Build and cable management
The mount is made from steel and aluminium. Built-in cable management guides the cables along the arms so they stay tidy.
Installation
Two fixings are offered: a C-clamp for desks 0.5 to 1.8 inches (about 1.3 to 4.6 cm) thick and a grommet mount for desks 0.5 to 2 inches (1.3 to 5 cm). ARES WING says the pictures and video instructions mean there is no need to crawl under the desk. Glass tops, hollow desks and thin panels may not take a clamp well, so check yours.
Who it suits
It suits people with two monitors who want more desk space, flexible positions and a posture-friendly setup, including those with one or two ultrawide screens.
What to check before you buy
- Monitor weight and size: compare each screen with the 44 lb and 17 to 49 inch limits.
- VESA holes: confirm 75 x 75 or 100 x 100 mm, or plan for an adapter.
- Desk thickness and strength: it must fall within the clamp or grommet range and be sturdy.
- Space behind the desk: check the arms' range against a wall.
- Cable length: check your cables reach at full extension.
- Tools: see the manual for what is needed to assemble it.
