The eufyCam S300, also called the eufyCam 3C, is a four-camera wireless security system for the outside of a home. It records in 4K, keeps video locally and uses on-device AI to tell familiar faces from strangers. eufy Security positions it for people who want wide coverage and control over their own footage.

4K detail, day and night

Four-K video has four times the pixels of 1080p, which in general lets you zoom into a recording and still pick out faces or licence plates. eufy says a Starlight photosensitive system improves low-light clarity so night footage can keep its colour. The kit weighs about 4.0 lb in total.

Local, expandable storage

Video is stored locally with encryption, not in a monthly cloud plan. eufy lists 16 GB of built-in storage, expandable up to 16 TB with a portable hard drive that is not included. A larger drive is useful with four 4K cameras, because high-resolution video fills space quickly. The company says the setup carries no monthly fee.

BionicMind AI and face recognition

BionicMind is eufy's name for its self-learning recognition. It aims to tell family members from strangers, which can help cut alerts when someone you know walks up. As with all recognition features, accuracy depends on lighting, angle and distance.

Battery life

The cameras are wireless and rated at up to 180 days of security per charge. In practice, battery life varies with how often they detect motion, the weather and recording settings. Cameras that watch a busy road will drain faster than those covering a back garden.

Voice assistants, two-way audio and zones

eufy lists voice control through Alexa and Google Assistant, plus clear two-way audio, which lets you speak to someone at the camera. Activity zones let you choose which parts of the picture trigger alerts, for example excluding a public footpath or a neighbour's yard.

Wi-Fi

The system connects over 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. Because 2.4GHz travels farther through walls than 5GHz, it suits outdoor cameras, but it is also more prone to congestion in dense areas.

Who it suits

This kit suits larger properties or anyone who wants several viewing angles from one system, and people who prefer keeping their recordings on their own hardware. If you only need a single door camera, four cameras may be more than you need.

What to check before you buy

  • Coverage plan: map where four cameras would go and how far they sit from the base station.
  • Storage: decide whether you want to add an external drive.
  • Network: confirm your Wi-Fi reaches each mounting spot on 2.4GHz.
  • Privacy rules: local laws on recording public areas and neighbours differ.
  • Recharging: make sure each camera can be reached for charging.
