The eufyCam C37 4-Cam Kit (model T814X) is a wire-free home security system with four outdoor cameras and a HomeBase Mini. Each camera can pan and tilt to follow movement, and recordings are kept on local storage rather than in the cloud. Here is what the specs mean and what to confirm before choosing a layout.

Pan, tilt and auto-tracking

Unlike a fixed camera, the C37 can turn through 360° and tilt, so one unit can cover an area that might otherwise need two. eufy says its auto-tracking keeps a moving subject centred in frame. Tracking typically works best when the camera has a clear, unobstructed view of the area it watches. eufy notes that the camera needs eufy app version 6.0.10 or newer.

2K video and colour night vision

The cameras record at 2K, which eufy says is 77% more pixels than standard 1080p. More pixels typically help when you zoom in to read detail such as a vehicle's plate or a clothing pattern. A built-in spotlight lets the camera show faces, plates and clothing in colour in the dark, rather than the grey image of infrared night vision.

Solar panels

Each camera comes with a detachable 3W solar panel. Because the panel is separate, you can place it where it gets the most sun while aiming the camera where you need it. eufy says this gives continuous charging with no maintenance. How well any solar panel keeps a battery topped up depends on sunlight hours, shade and the season, so a spot in the shade may suit a different arrangement.

Local storage and no cloud subscription

The HomeBase Mini holds 64GB of built-in storage, expandable to 1TB with a microSD card, which is sold separately. eufy says footage stays at home rather than in the cloud and that the system has no monthly fees for these features.

Smarter detection

The HomeBase Mini lets you connect up to 10 cameras in one app. eufy lists human, vehicle, pet and facial recognition, along with cross-camera tracking. These features typically run on the base station itself, which is why the hub matters as much as the cameras.

Compatibility notes

eufy states that the C37 isn't compatible with HomeBase 2 or HomeKit. Connection requires HomeBase 3 firmware V3.7.8.4 or later, or HomeBase Mini firmware V4.0.5.6 or later. The kit's listed packaged dimensions are 5.0 x 9.0 x 8.0 inches.

Who it suits

It suits homeowners who want several cameras without running cables, those who prefer to keep recordings on a device at home, and anyone covering a wide yard with few mounting points.

What to check before you buy

  • Coverage plan: sketch where each of the four cameras will go and what each should see.
  • Sunlight: check the sun exposure where each panel will sit.
  • Wi-Fi and signal: confirm the HomeBase Mini's range reaches every camera position.
  • Existing eufy gear: the C37 doesn't work with HomeBase 2 or HomeKit.
  • Storage: decide whether the built-in 64GB is enough or whether you'll add a microSD card.
  • Privacy and local rules: check local rules on recording public areas or neighbours' property.
