The eufy Security SoloCam S340 (model T81703W1) is a wireless outdoor camera with a solar panel. It uses two lenses, pans and tilts through 360°, and stores footage locally. It is aimed at porches, driveways and backyards where running a cable is awkward.

Dual cameras and 8x zoom

eufy says the S340 captures 3K video with an enhanced dual-camera setup, with 8x zoom and clear detail at a distance of 50 feet (about 15 m). In general, one lens gives a wide view while the other zooms in on details like faces or plates. The brand notes the maximum resolution drops to 2K when AI Tracking or Dual Views are in use.

360° pan and tilt

Where most outdoor cameras are fixed, the S340 turns through a full 360° pan and tilt, so a single unit can look at a front porch, a backyard and a driveway. eufy describes it as having no blind spots. Real coverage still depends on where you mount it and what blocks the view.

Solar power

A removable solar panel keeps the camera charged, and eufy says it is "install once and it runs forever". Solar camera performance typically depends on how much sun the panel receives, so a shaded wall or a dark winter may need extra attention. Because the panel is removable, you can position it separately from the camera in a sunnier spot. Check the manual for panel placement and charging advice.

Installation and connection

The camera is wire-free and compact, and eufy says installation takes about five minutes. It connects over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, and the listing notes compatibility with the HomeBase S380. That means your router must support the 2.4 GHz band, and the signal needs to reach the mounting spot.

Local storage

eufy lists local storage with no monthly fee or hidden costs. The listing marks local storage with an asterisk, so check the manual for details on storage type and capacity.

Size

The camera measures 3.4 x 3.4 x 4.7 inches (about 8.6 x 8.6 x 11.9 cm) and weighs 2.6 lb (about 1.2 kg), so make sure the mount you choose is suitable.

What to check before you buy

  • Sunlight: check how much direct sun the panel will get where you want to mount it.
  • Wi-Fi range: the camera uses 2.4 GHz, so test the signal at the mounting spot.
  • View and angle: pick a spot that gives a clear view without blocked sightlines.
  • Storage: confirm what storage the camera uses and what comes in the box.
  • Weather: check the manual for operating temperatures and weather limits.
  • Privacy: point it at your own property, and follow local rules on recording.
