The Brother P-touch PT-D410 is a desktop label maker for home and office. You can type labels on its own keyboard, or connect it by USB to a PC or Mac and design them in Brother's software. It suits tidying drawers, files, cables and shelves. Here is what its specs mean.
Two ways to make labels
You can use the built-in QWERTY keyboard with its one-touch formatting keys and a two-line, 15-character display that previews the label before it prints. Or you can connect it with the included USB cable and use P-touch Editor software, which Brother says offers templates and drawing tools to add symbols or barcodes.
Text, fonts and symbols
Brother says each label can hold up to five lines of text. The design options include 15 fonts, 13 font styles, 7 font sizes, 120 designer frames and 700 symbols. In practice, a small label is best kept simple, with a legible font and one or two lines.
30 templates and 50 stored labels
The unit comes with 30 preloaded templates for home and office organisation. It also stores up to 50 commonly used labels so you can reprint them without retyping, which is useful for items such as file names or recurring inventory tags.
TZe tapes
The PT-D410 prints on Brother TZe tapes up to about 3/4 inch (18mm) wide. Brother lists options such as security tapes, cable tapes and designer tapes in various colours and finishes. These laminated tapes are generally made for durable labels on files, equipment and storage boxes. It's worth checking that a tape's adhesive suits the surface, for example textured plastic or cold storage.
What's included
The package has a 4m roll of black-on-white TZe sample tape (about 3/4 inch / 18mm), an AC adapter and a USB cable. Brother also mentions an optional VP model with a carry case and a sample of black-on-clear tape in 1/2 inch (12mm).
Size and weight
It measures about 8.9 x 7.4 x 12.3 inches (shipping dimensions) and weighs 1.7 lb (about 0.8 kg), so it sits easily on a desk.
Who it suits
Brother points to small businesses and home organisers, with ideas such as labelling office equipment, drawers and file boxes, identifying sample vials, and tracking inventory with barcodes. For printing straight from a phone, Brother lists a separate connected model.
What to check before you buy
- Computer compatibility: confirm your operating system works with the P-touch Editor software.
- Tape size and type: check which TZe widths and colours you need.

- Label surface: test adhesion on rough, curved or damp surfaces.
- Ongoing supplies: you will need to buy more TZe tape as you use the first roll.
