The Blackview Tab 90WiFi is an 11-inch Android 14 tablet with an all-metal body. It is a general-purpose device for browsing, reading, streaming, video calls and light work, and it comes with 128GB of storage that can be expanded with a memory card. Here is what the main specs mean in everyday use.

Android 14 and the Unisoc T606 processor

The tablet runs Android 14. Blackview points to improved privacy permissions, which let you check and set what each app can access, along with more personalisation, a lock-screen QR code scanner and shortcuts. Inside is an octa-core Unisoc T606 chip. Blackview says it handles multitasking and split-screen use. In general, an entry-level processor like this suits browsing, video and everyday apps better than demanding 3D games.

The 11-inch display and Widevine L1

The 11-inch FHD Incell screen has an 83% screen-to-body ratio, which Blackview says gives a wide viewing angle. The company also says the tablet is TÜV certified for blue light filtering. Widevine L1 is the highest security level of Google's content-protection system, and it is generally required for streaming services to play video in HD. Blackview lists support for streaming services such as Netflix, Disney and Hulu, though the exact quality depends on each service.

Memory and storage

The listing says 12GB of RAM: 4GB of physical memory plus 8GB of virtual RAM, which borrows storage space to extend memory. Virtual RAM is slower than physical RAM, so the real working memory is the 4GB. Storage is 128GB, expandable up to 2TB with a TF card, which suits keeping films, music and files on the device.

Cameras

A 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera are fitted, with built-in AI beauty effects. Face ID unlocking is also listed. For tablets, the main uses of cameras are video calls and scanning documents.

Battery and charging

The 8200mAh battery is quoted by Blackview, from its own testing, at more than 500 hours of standby, up to 12 hours of web browsing, 10 hours of video and 8 hours of gaming. It charges at 10W through USB-PD and takes around three hours for a full charge. Those figures depend on brightness and usage.

Connectivity and design

The tablet uses 5GHz WiFi and Bluetooth 5.0. As the name 90WiFi suggests, this is a WiFi model rather than a cellular one. The all-metal body is 9.5 mm thick and weighs about 540 grams (1.2 lb). Blackview lists a 720-day warranty with 24-hour customer service.

Who it suits

It fits families who want a shared screen for video and reading, students for notes and lessons, and anyone wanting a spare tablet for the kitchen, travel or the couch. It is less suited to heavy creative work or high-end gaming.

What to check before you buy

  • Real RAM: note that 4GB is physical memory and the rest is virtual.
  • Connectivity: it is WiFi only, so there is no mobile data.
  • Memory card: confirm the card type before buying extra storage.
  • Charging time: 10W charging is gentle, so allow time for a full charge.
  • Streaming quality: check each streaming app's own requirements for HD playback.
  • Accessories: a case, stylus or keyboard may not be included, so check the box contents.
