The Blackview Tab 90 is an 11-inch Wi-Fi tablet running Android 14. It is aimed at everyday jobs: streaming, browsing, video calls, reading and light gaming, in a slim body that is easy to carry around the house or on a trip. Here is what its main specs mean in practice.

The 11-inch, 120Hz display

Blackview lists an 11-inch IPS display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 600 nits of brightness and a density of 365 pixels per inch. A 120Hz panel redraws the picture 120 times a second, twice as often as the common 60Hz screens, so scrolling and swiping typically look smoother. IPS panels are known for wide viewing angles, which helps when two people watch from the sofa. Brightness is measured in nits, and a higher figure generally makes the screen easier to read in a bright room.

Blackview also lists Widevine L1 certification. This is the level that streaming apps typically require before they will play video in high definition, up to 1080p on this tablet. Without it, many services limit playback to standard definition.

Processor, memory and storage

Inside is a Unisoc Tiger T606, an eight-core chip. It is an entry-level mobile processor, suited to web pages, video, social apps and casual games rather than demanding 3D titles. Blackview pairs it with 12GB of RAM, which the brand says helps with switching between apps. Part of that figure may be extended memory that borrows from storage, so check the specification sheet for how it is split.

Internal storage is 128GB, and a Micro SD card can extend it by up to 2TB. Card slots are useful for photo libraries, downloaded films and offline music.

Battery and charging

The battery is 8200mAh. Blackview quotes up to 37 hours of talk time, which is a lab-style figure; screen-on time with video or games will be shorter. Charging is through USB-C, with a charger included in the box. Connectivity is dual-band Wi-Fi including 5GHz. This model is Wi-Fi only, so there is no mobile data or SIM slot.

Cameras, Face ID and multitasking

The rear camera is 13MP and the front camera is 8MP, enough for video calls and basic photos or document scans. Google Lens is built in for searching what the camera sees. Face ID unlocks the tablet by recognising the user's face. Face unlock on tablets is usually a convenience feature, and many people also set a PIN or pattern as a fallback.

Android 14 brings the platform's privacy controls, and Blackview mentions monthly notices when apps change their data-sharing policies. Split-screen lets two apps share the display, for example a document beside a browser or a video call beside notes.

Size and weight

Blackview gives the weight as 540g, with a thickness of 9.5mm. That is light enough for one-handed reading for short stretches, and it slips into most bags.

Who it suits

It suits people who want a large screen for streaming, reading, study and family use, and who are fine with an entry-level processor. It is less suited to heavy gaming, professional video editing or users who need mobile data away from Wi-Fi.

What to check before you buy

  • Wi-Fi only: confirm you are happy to rely on Wi-Fi or a phone hotspot when away from home.
  • Streaming quality: check that the apps you use support HD playback on Widevine L1 devices.
  • Storage: decide whether 128GB is enough, or whether you will add a Micro SD card.
  • Performance: think about the games and apps you plan to run and whether an eight-core entry-level chip will cover them.
  • Updates: check how long Blackview says it will provide software and security updates.
  • In the box: confirm the charger and cable that come with your version.
