The Blackview Mega8 is a 13-inch Android tablet aimed at streaming, browsing, reading and general family use. It runs Android 15, carries 256GB of storage and a large 11000mAh battery, and adds 4G LTE for mobile data. It comes with a pen and a case.

Screen and streaming

The display is 13 inches with a 1920x1200 resolution. Blackview lists TÜV Rheinland low blue light certification and Widevine L1, which in general terms is the DRM level that lets streaming apps play HD video. Blackview says this supports 1080p playback in services such as Netflix, Disney, Hulu and others. Check each service's own device list, since support varies by app and region.

Processor, memory and storage

The Unisoc T620 is a mid-range octa-core chip. Blackview says it handles web browsing, social media, video and multitasking. It is not aimed at demanding 3D games, though the listing calls it a gaming tablet. The tablet has 12GB of RAM, and a setting can add up to 24GB of virtual memory taken from storage, for 36GB in total. Virtual memory is slower than real RAM, so it helps with background apps more than raw speed. Storage is 256GB, expandable to 1TB with a TF (microSD) card.

Battery and charging

The 11000mAh battery gives up to 10 hours of use, per Blackview, and charges at 18W over USB-C. A battery this large takes a while to fill with an 18W charger, so expect an overnight top-up rather than a quick one.

Connectivity and cameras

The tablet has dual-band 2.4/5GHz WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0 and 4G LTE. Blackview notes that SIM support depends on region, so check that your carrier's bands are supported. Cameras are 13MP at the back and 8MP at the front, which also supports face unlock.

Design

The body is all metal, 7.85mm thick and 736 grams, according to Blackview. That is light for a 13-inch tablet but still a two-handed device. Blackview lists a 720-day warranty; terms vary, so confirm with the seller.

Who it suits

It suits people who want a large screen for streaming and reading, families sharing a tablet, and travellers who want mobile data. It is less suited to heavy gaming or professional creative work.

What to check before you buy

  • SIM bands: confirm your carrier's LTE bands and that SIM use is allowed in your country.
  • Streaming apps: check that the services you use support HD on this device.
  • Storage: decide whether you need a TF card, and check its maximum size.
  • Charging: only 18W, so plan for longer charge times.
  • Accessories: check what is in the box, including the pen and case.
