The ASUS Zenbook Duo (UX8406MA) is a laptop with two 14-inch OLED touchscreens instead of a screen and a keyboard deck. A detachable Bluetooth keyboard and a built-in kickstand let you arrange the screens in several ways, which suits people who normally work with two monitors and want something similar on the move.
Four ways to use two screens
ASUS describes four modes. Laptop Mode puts the keyboard over the lower screen, or folds everything back into a single-screen layout. Dual Screen Mode stacks both displays for a tall workspace. Desktop Mode stands the machine up with the keyboard placed in front, and Sharing Mode lets two people look at content from opposite sides. Software support for each mode comes from Windows 11 and ASUS's own tools.
The displays
Both panels are 14-inch ASUS Lumina OLED touchscreens at 2880 x 1800 (3K) in a 16:10 shape, with a 120Hz refresh rate. ASUS lists 500 nits of peak HDR brightness and Pantone validation with 100% DCI-P3 colour coverage. OLED panels typically offer deep blacks and strong contrast because each pixel makes its own light. A stylus is listed in the box (ASUS Pen 2.0 with MPP 2.0 support), which is useful for notes and sketching.
Processor, memory and storage
The Intel Core Ultra 9 185H runs up to 5.10 GHz, according to ASUS, and is paired with Intel Arc graphics. This family of chips includes AI-focused hardware that supports features in Windows 11 such as Copilot. The laptop has 32GB of LPDDR5x memory and a 1TB SSD. LPDDR5x memory is soldered to the board in most thin laptops, so the amount fitted is typically the amount you keep.
Battery, ports and durability
The 75Wh battery is rated by ASUS at up to 13.5 hours of video playback in Laptop Mode and 10.5 hours in Dual Screen Mode. Real use varies with brightness and workload. Ports include two Thunderbolt 4 (display and power delivery), one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, one HDMI 2.1 and a 3.5mm combo audio jack. ASUS says the laptop meets the US MIL-STD 810H standard, which is a set of test methods rather than a guarantee against damage.
Size and what's in the box
ASUS lists the laptop at 3.64 lb and 0.78 inches thick. The listing's separate dimension line shows 8.9 lb, which likely reflects the packaged weight. The box includes a 65W USB-C charger, the stylus and a backpack.
Who it suits
It suits people who juggle documents, video calls, reference material and chat at once, and who prefer a portable second screen over a bag of accessories. It also suits those who sketch or annotate by hand.
What to check before you buy
- Where you'll use it: the second screen needs desk or lap space, so think about your usual workspace.
- Keyboard: the detachable keyboard is Bluetooth, so it needs its own charging and pairing.
- Weight: confirm the real weight with the manufacturer.
- Software: check that the apps you rely on handle two screens and touch.
- Charging: the 65W charger is listed; check the manual for fast-charge details.
