The ASUS Vivobook X515E is a 15.6-inch Windows laptop with a touchscreen, a full-size keyboard with number pad, and an unusually large 36GB of memory. It is aimed at everyday computing: browsing, documents, video calls and keeping many programs open at once. Here is what its main specs mean.
The processor and graphics
The laptop uses an 11th Gen Intel Core i5-1135G7 with four cores and eight threads, 8MB of cache and a turbo frequency of up to 4.2 GHz. Graphics come from Intel Iris Xe, which is integrated into the processor. In general, this combination handles office work, streaming, web apps and light photo editing comfortably. Integrated graphics are not designed for demanding modern games or heavy 3D work, so it is worth matching the machine to the tasks you have in mind.
What 36GB of RAM changes
Most laptops in this class ship with 8GB or 16GB. ASUS lists this configuration with 36GB, which gives a lot of headroom. Memory is where open programs and browser tabs are held, so more of it typically means the system has to shuffle less data to storage when you multitask. Spreadsheets, many tabs, a video call and a document editor can sit open together. The listing also describes the memory as upgradeable to that level, so check the exact configuration you receive.
Fast storage
The 1TB drive is a PCIe NVMe M.2 solid-state drive. Compared with older hard disks, SSDs typically start up much faster and open files more quickly, and NVMe drives are faster again than SATA SSDs. One terabyte is enough for a large library of documents and photos plus a good number of applications.
The display
The 15.6-inch screen is Full HD (1920 x 1080) with an IPS-level panel, LED backlighting and a 60Hz refresh rate. ASUS rates brightness at 250 nits and colour at 45% NTSC. Those figures describe a screen suited to indoor, everyday use rather than colour-critical work. The surface is glossy, which can show reflections in bright rooms, and it responds to touch, handy for scrolling and tapping through Windows 11.
Ports and connectivity
The port list covers most needs: one USB 3.2 Type-A, one USB 3.2 Type-C, two USB 2.0 Type-A, an HDMI output, a combination audio jack and a Micro SD card reader. There is no optical drive. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are included, along with a webcam for video calls.
Size and weight
The laptop measures about 14.2 x 9.3 x 0.8 inches (36 x 24 x 2 cm) and weighs about 4 lb (1.8 kg). That is portable enough for a bag, though not as light as a 13- or 14-inch model.
Who it suits
It suits students, home-office users and families who want a roomy screen, a number pad and plenty of memory for multitasking. It is less suited to gaming or video rendering, which lean on a dedicated graphics card.
What to check before you buy

- Ports: two of the four USB ports are the slower USB 2.0 type.
- Operating system: it comes with Windows 11 Home; check that your software supports it.
