The ASUS Vivobook S 15 (model S5507QAD-PS96) is a thin 15.6-inch laptop that runs Windows 11 Home on a Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite processor. It is built for people who want a large, vivid screen and a light body for work, study and everyday media.

A different kind of processor

Most Windows laptops use x86 chips from Intel or AMD. The Snapdragon X Elite X1E-78-100 is a 12-core Arm-based design. Arm chips are generally known for efficiency, and ASUS pairs this one with a promise of long battery hours. The trade-off is software: many Windows apps now run natively on Arm, and others run through Windows' built-in emulation, so it is worth checking that the programs you rely on, particularly specialist tools, drivers or older software, work on Arm.

What Copilot+ PC means

Copilot+ PCs are Windows machines with a neural processing unit (NPU) able to handle AI tasks on the device itself. ASUS rates this laptop's Qualcomm AI Engine at up to 45 TOPS (trillions of operations per second), the level Microsoft sets for the label. Running AI features locally can reduce reliance on an internet connection. The keyboard also has a dedicated Copilot key to open Windows' assistant.

The 3K OLED display

The screen is a 15.6-inch ASUS Lumina OLED at 2880 x 1620 resolution with a 120Hz refresh rate. ASUS lists a 0.2ms response time, high peak brightness and 100% DCI-P3 colour coverage. In general, OLED panels light each pixel individually, which gives deep blacks and strong contrast, and a 120Hz refresh rate makes scrolling and motion look smoother than the usual 60Hz. DCI-P3 is a wide colour gamut used in film, which matters for photo and video work.

Memory, storage and graphics

The laptop has 16GB of LPDDR5X memory and a 1TB SSD. LPDDR5X is soldered to the board, which usually means it cannot be upgraded later, so the amount you choose at purchase is the amount you keep. Graphics come from the Qualcomm Adreno GPU, aimed at everyday graphics tasks rather than demanding games.

Size, ports and keyboard

ASUS gives the thickness as 0.63 inches (about 1.6 cm) and the weight as 3.13 lb (about 1.4 kg), in an all-metal body in Cool Silver. Ports include two USB 4.0 Type-C ports that support display and power delivery, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, a Micro SD card reader, one HDMI 2.1 port and a 3.5mm combo audio jack. The backlit keyboard is single-zone RGB, with adjustable colour and brightness, and has a number pad.

Who it suits

It suits students, remote workers and travellers who want a big, bright display in a light laptop, and who mostly use mainstream apps, browsers and media. It is less obviously suited to people who depend on software that needs x86-only drivers.

What to check before you buy

  • Your software: confirm key apps and any hardware drivers support Windows on Arm.
  • Memory needs: the RAM is not likely to be upgradeable, so consider your workload.
  • Charging: the Type-C ports handle power delivery; check the supplied charger and the manual.
  • Display preferences: OLED is glossy and vivid; consider your lighting and use.
  • Ports: note there is no dedicated Ethernet port.
