The ASUS VivoBook S 15 OLED, model K3502ZA-DS51, is a 15.6-inch laptop built around an OLED screen and a 12th-generation Intel Core i5 processor. It is aimed at everyday computing, entertainment and light creative work, in a slim aluminium body that is easy to carry between desk and sofa.

What an OLED display changes

The screen is a 15.6-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) OLED panel. Unlike an LCD, each pixel in an OLED emits its own light, so black pixels can switch off completely. ASUS lists a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, 100% DCI-P3 colour coverage, a 0.2 ms response time and 600 nits of peak brightness, along with VESA DisplayHDR True Black 600 certification.

In practice, OLED panels typically show deeper blacks and richer colour than standard laptop screens, which suits films, photo viewing and casual editing. The four-sided NanoEdge bezels are slim, and ASUS quotes an 84% screen-to-body ratio.

The processor and graphics

The Intel Core i5-12500H runs at 2.5 GHz and boosts up to 4.5 GHz, with 18 MB of cache and a 4 performance plus 8 efficiency core layout. Performance cores handle demanding tasks, while efficiency cores take background work. Paired with Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics, it is a general-purpose setup: good for office work, browsing, streaming and light photo or video editing, but not designed for heavy modern 3D games.

The laptop carries the Intel Evo label, a platform designation that covers things like quick wake-up and fast charging.

Memory and storage

ASUS lists 8GB of DDR4 RAM, made up of 4GB soldered on board plus a 4GB SO-DIMM module, and a 512GB M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD. The SO-DIMM arrangement typically means one memory slot is in use, which is worth knowing if you plan to add memory later. Windows 11 Home is installed.

Design, keyboard and ports

The body is aluminium, about 0.7 inches (roughly 1.9 cm) thick and 3.97 lb (1.8 kg) by ASUS's figure. The backlit chiclet keyboard includes a fingerprint sensor that works with Windows Hello for quick sign-in. There are two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports, which can carry data, video and charging through one cable.

For calls, ASUS AI Noise-Canceling Technology uses machine learning to separate speech from background noise.

Who it suits

It suits students, remote workers and home users who want a large, colourful screen in a portable body: writing, spreadsheets, video calls, streaming and light creative projects. People who need dedicated graphics for gaming or 3D rendering would usually look at a laptop with a discrete GPU instead.

What to check before you buy

  • Memory needs: 8GB covers everyday tasks, but heavy multitasking or large creative files may call for more.
  • Storage: confirm that 512GB is enough for your files, or plan for external storage.
  • Ports: check you have what you need beyond two Thunderbolt 4 ports, and whether you need an adapter for older devices.
  • Display habits: OLED screens are best used with sensible brightness and screen-saver settings; check the manual's care advice for static images.
  • Bundled offers: any software trial mentioned in the listing has its own terms and dates, so confirm them on the brand's site.
  • Size: 14.2 x 9.2 inches (about 36 x 23 cm) is a full 15.6-inch footprint; check it fits your bag.

The short version

  • A 15.6-inch Full HD OLED laptop with 100% DCI-P3 colour and DisplayHDR True Black 600.
  • Intel Core i5-12500H with Iris Xe graphics, 8GB DDR4 and a 512GB PCIe 4.0 SSD.
  • Aluminium body of about 3.97 lb, with a backlit keyboard and fingerprint sensor.
  • Two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports and Windows 11 Home.
  • Built for everyday work and entertainment rather than demanding 3D games.
