The ASUS Vivobook 15 (model F1504ZA-AS34) is a 15.6-inch laptop for everyday computing: web browsing, documents, email, video calls and streaming. It pairs an Intel Core i3-1215U processor with 8GB of memory and a 128GB SSD. Here is what that combination means and where its limits are.
The processor
The Core i3-1215U is a 12th-generation Intel chip with six cores. The listing gives a base speed of 1.2 GHz and a boost of up to 4.4 GHz, with 10MB of cache. Intel's "U" chips are designed for thin laptops, balancing performance against heat and battery use. This class of processor typically handles office work and web use comfortably. Heavy video editing or demanding games are better suited to more powerful hardware. Graphics are Intel UHD, built into the processor.
Memory and storage
The laptop has 8GB of DDR4 RAM and a 128GB M.2 NVMe SSD on PCIe 3.0. An SSD makes startup and file opening much faster than a hard drive. 8GB is typically enough for browsing with several tabs plus office programs. The 128GB of storage is modest, though. Windows and apps take a share of it, so photos, videos and large downloads may require cloud storage or an external drive.
Windows 11 in S mode
The laptop comes with Windows 11 Home in S mode. S mode runs only apps from Microsoft's own app catalogue, which is designed to keep things simple and secure. If you need software from elsewhere, Microsoft allows switching out of S mode, and that switch is generally one-way, so decide before you do it. The listing also mentions a one-month trial of Microsoft 365 for new customers.
Display
The 15.6-inch screen has Full HD resolution, 1920 x 1080, with slim NanoEdge bezels around it. ASUS says these keep the body compact for the screen size. The listing does not give brightness or panel type, so check ASUS's specification page if that matters to you.
Ports and wireless
ASUS lists:
- USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C
- USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A
- USB 2.0 Type-A
- HDMI 1.4
- Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) dual band, 1x1
- Bluetooth 4.1
That covers a monitor, a mouse, storage and a phone cable. The wireless is a generation or two behind the newest standards, which matters little unless you have a very fast home network.
Design and keyboard
The laptop is 0.7 inches thick and about 3.75 lb (roughly 1.7 kg). ASUS says it meets the US MIL-STD 810H military-grade standard, which refers to a set of test methods; it isn't a guarantee against damage. The ErgoSense keyboard has a number keypad, the hinge opens fully flat to 180 degrees, and a physical shield covers the webcam. ASUS AI Noise-Canceling uses machine learning to separate speech from background noise on calls.
Who it suits
It suits students, home users and anyone who needs a straightforward machine for web, documents, streaming and calls. It is less suited to large media libraries, heavy editing or gaming.

- Ports: check that the ports match your accessories.
- Weight: about 3.75 lb is portable for 15.6 inches.
