The ASUS Vivobook 15 F1504VA-AB56-PK is a 15.6-inch laptop with a Full HD touchscreen, an Intel Core i5-1334U processor, 16GB of memory and a 512GB SSD. It is pitched at everyday jobs such as browsing, documents, video calls and light creative work, and comes in a champagne finish. Here is what the specs mean.
The processor and graphics
The Intel Core i5-1334U is a 13th-generation, low-power laptop processor. Intel's "U" series chips are designed to balance performance and battery life, which suits office work, study, streaming and web use. Intel Iris Xe is the integrated graphics, which handles everyday display tasks and light photo or video editing. ASUS says the platform enables casual gaming, creation and productivity, though demanding 3D games are generally better suited to a laptop with dedicated graphics.
Memory and storage
With 16GB of memory, the laptop can keep many browser tabs and apps open at once without slowing down much. The 512GB SSD is quick to start up and open files compared with a hard drive, and has room for a typical set of apps, documents and photos. ASUS notes that its PCIe 3.0 SSDs perform well for everyday applications and backups.
The display
The 15.6-inch screen is Full HD (1920 x 1080, 16:9) with touch input, a 60Hz refresh rate and 250 nits of sustained brightness, which ASUS pairs with vivid colours. A brightness of 250 nits is typical for a laptop used mainly indoors; in bright rooms or near windows, you may want to turn the brightness up and mind reflections.
Keyboard, camera and hinge
The ErgoSense keyboard has a numeric keypad, which helps with spreadsheets and data entry, and ASUS describes the typing as quiet and comfortable. The 720p HD camera works with Windows Studio Effects and Windows Hello, and has a slide-over privacy shutter. A 180-degree lay-flat hinge lets the screen open completely flat, handy for sharing it across a table.
Battery and connectivity
ASUS says the laptop offers up to 8 hours of battery life, and that FastCharge brings it to a full charge in about 1 hour 20 minutes. As ASUS notes, battery life varies with the model, apps, features, wireless use and power settings, and capacity falls naturally with age. Wireless is Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. The laptop measures 14.2 x 9.1 x 0.7 inches (about 36 x 23 x 1.8 cm) and weighs 3.8 lb (about 1.7 kg).
Software
Microsoft Copilot is built in. ASUS describes it as a tool for getting answers, summarizing text and generating images.
Who it suits
It suits students, home users and people working from home who want a full-size screen, touch input and enough memory for multitasking in a light-ish package. It is less suited to heavy video editing, 3D design or recent demanding games.
What to check before you buy
- Ports: check the manual for the full list of ports and whether you need an adapter for your accessories.
- Touchscreen: confirm you want a glossy touch display, which can show more reflections.
- Storage: 512GB can fill up quickly with large media libraries, so plan for external or cloud storage.
- Upgrades: check the manual on whether memory or storage can be changed.
- Software needs: make sure the apps you rely on run on the installed version of Windows.
- Charging: check the charger type and whether it suits your travel plans.
