The ASUS VA34VCPSR is a 34-inch curved ultrawide monitor that doubles as a docking station. One USB-C cable can carry the picture, data and charging power between a laptop and the display, and the monitor adds a wired network port and a USB hub. Here is what its specs mean for a desk setup.
Ultrawide WQHD and the curve
The panel is 21:9 with a WQHD resolution of 3440 x 1440. A 21:9 screen is wider than a standard 16:9 monitor, so two documents or windows fit side by side, and spreadsheets and video timelines have room to stretch. ASUS gives the curvature as 1500R, which means the screen curves like a circle with a 1,500 mm radius. This keeps the edges at a more even distance from your eyes at a normal desk distance. The viewing angle is listed as 178°.
ASUS says the refresh rate goes up to 100Hz with Adaptive-Sync, which matches the monitor's refresh to the incoming frame rate to avoid tearing. That is smoother than a basic 60Hz screen for scrolling and general use.
One-cable docking
The USB-C port accepts video and data from a laptop and delivers up to 96W of charging power, all on a single cable. For this to work, the laptop's USB-C port must support video output (DisplayPort Alt Mode) and charging. If your laptop needs more than 96W, it may charge slowly or not at all under load. Check its power requirements.
The listing also names a wired RJ45 LAN port and a USB hub. Plugged into the dock, a laptop can use a wired network connection and connected peripherals through the one cable, which is convenient for hybrid working where you plug in and out.
Other connections
Besides USB-C, the monitor has HDMI, DisplayPort and an earphone jack. That allows a second computer or a console to connect at the same time, and you can switch between sources.
Ergonomics and mounting
The stand adjusts for tilt, swivel and height. The monitor is VESA wall mountable, so you can use a monitor arm or wall bracket instead. It measures 10.4 x 31.9 x 20.1 inches (about 26 x 81 x 51 cm) as packed or on its stand, and weighs 20.6 lb (about 9.3 kg). ASUS lists TÜV Rheinland certification for Flicker-free and Low Blue Light technologies, plus a three-year warranty.
Who it suits
It suits people who work from a laptop and want a tidy desk with a single cable, office workers who juggle many windows, and anyone who edits video or photos and likes a wide canvas. It is a general-purpose display rather than a dedicated fast-action gaming one.
What to check before you buy
- Laptop port: confirm USB-C video output and power delivery support.
- Wattage: compare your laptop's charger wattage with the monitor's 96W.
- Desk space: a 34-inch ultrawide is about 81 cm wide, so measure your desk.
- Operating system: check that docking features, such as the network port, work with your system.
- Mount: if you want an arm, confirm VESA compatibility and weight limits in the manual.
- Resolution: WQHD is sharp at this size, but check it suits your software.
