The ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER OC Edition (TUF-RTX4070TIS-O16G-GAMING) is a graphics card with 16GB of GDDR6X memory. It is an internal part for a desktop PC, and it handles the graphics work for games, creative software and display output.

The Ada Lovelace architecture

The card uses NVIDIA's Ada Lovelace architecture. ASUS lists three headline features. Fourth-generation Tensor Cores power NVIDIA DLSS 3, which ASUS says gives up to 4x more performance than brute-force rendering. DLSS uses AI to generate extra detail or frames, and it works only in games that support it. Third-generation RT cores are listed at up to 2x ray-tracing performance, and the card supports full ray tracing, a lighting technique that models how light behaves in a scene.

Memory

The card has 16GB of GDDR6X video memory. Video memory holds textures and other game data, so a large amount helps at high resolutions and with high-detail texture settings. It also helps in some creative work, such as video editing and 3D rendering.

Factory overclock

This is the OC Edition. ASUS lists its boost clock at 2670 MHz in OC mode and 2640 MHz in standard mode. The difference is small, and the mode can usually be chosen in ASUS software. Real performance varies with your processor, cooling and the game.

Cooling

ASUS says the Axial-tech fan design provides 21% more airflow. A card of this class has a large cooler, so the fans and heatsink matter for both temperature and noise.

Outputs

The card has two HDMI 2.1a and three DisplayPort 1.4a outputs, enough for several monitors or a TV. HDMI 2.1 is the version that supports high-resolution, high-refresh-rate screens. The card connects through a PCIe 4.0 slot.

What to check before you buy

  • Space in your case: a card like this is large and thick, and the listing's dimensions do not capture the full size, so check the length and slot width on ASUS's specifications page.
  • Power supply: cards of this class need a strong power supply and the right power connector. Check ASUS's recommended wattage and cables.
  • The motherboard slot: PCIe 4.0 x16 is ideal, though it generally works in other PCIe x16 slots too.
  • Your monitor connections and whether you want DisplayPort or HDMI.
  • Processor balance: a slow processor can limit the card in games.
  • The weight (listed at about 4.4 lb), which may mean a support bracket is wise.
