The ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 4070 Ti (model TUF-RTX4070TI-12G-GAMING) is a graphics card for desktop PCs. It pairs NVIDIA's RTX 4070 Ti GPU with 12GB of GDDR6X memory and ASUS's TUF cooling design. It is aimed at gamers and creators who want smooth, detailed graphics at higher resolutions.

The Ada Lovelace GPU

The card is based on NVIDIA's Ada Lovelace architecture, which ASUS says brings up to twice the ray-tracing performance of the previous generation. Ray tracing simulates how light behaves in a scene, for more realistic reflections and shadows, and it demands a lot of the GPU.

The card has 3rd-generation RT Cores for ray tracing and 4th-generation Tensor Cores for AI tasks. ASUS says the Tensor Cores give up to four times the performance with DLSS 3 versus brute-force rendering.

What DLSS 3 does

DLSS is NVIDIA's upscaling technology. It renders a game at a lower internal resolution and uses AI to reconstruct a sharper image. DLSS 3 adds frame generation, which creates extra frames to raise the frame rate. It only works in games that support it, and gains vary from title to title, so the "up to" figures are best-case numbers.

Memory and interface

The card carries 12GB of GDDR6X memory. Memory size matters for high-resolution textures and large scenes, and 12GB is generally comfortable for 1440p gaming. It connects through PCIe 4.0, and PCIe is backwards compatible, so it generally works in an older slot, although the exact speed depends on your motherboard.

Outputs

HDMI 2.1a and DisplayPort 1.4a are listed. HDMI 2.1 is the standard that supports high resolutions and refresh rates on modern TVs and monitors, and DisplayPort 1.4a is common on gaming monitors. Check your monitor's inputs.

Cooling

The TUF design uses axial-tech fans scaled up for 21% more airflow, ASUS says. The fans have dual ball bearings, which ASUS says last up to twice as long as conventional designs. Better cooling usually means the card can hold its speed with less noise, but results depend on your case airflow.

Size and weight

The card measures about 12 inches long and weighs 2.9 lb (1.3 kg). The listed dimensions are approximate, so confirm clearance for the card's full length, thickness and any support bracket.

Who it suits

It suits builders and upgraders putting together a gaming or creative PC for higher-resolution displays, ray-tracing features and modern game engines.

What to check before you buy

  • Case fit: check the length and the number of slots it occupies in your case.
  • Power supply: high-end cards need a capable power supply and the right power connectors; read ASUS's and NVIDIA's requirements.
  • Motherboard slot: make sure you have a free PCIe x16 slot.
  • Monitor: confirm your display's inputs and refresh rate suit the card.
  • Processor: a much slower CPU may limit performance.
