The ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 5070 Ti OC Edition (model ROG-STRIX-RTX5070TI-O16G-GAMING) is a large, factory-overclocked graphics card with 16GB of GDDR7 memory and a PCIe 5.0 interface. It is built for PC gamers and creators who want a big cooler, tuning software and addressable lighting in the same card.

Performance and the OC Edition

ASUS lists AI performance of 1492 AI TOPS, a measure of how many AI operations the card can perform per second, which relates to features such as DLSS upscaling and AI-assisted creative tools. As an OC Edition, the card ships with a boost clock of 2625 MHz in OC mode and 2602 MHz in default mode. Boost clocks describe the speed the GPU can reach under load when power and temperature allow, rather than a fixed figure.

The 16GB of GDDR7 is the card's video memory. GDDR7 is a newer memory generation that typically offers more bandwidth than GDDR6, and 16GB leaves room for high-resolution textures and larger creative projects. The listing also names PCIe 5.0 and HDMI/DisplayPort 2.1 outputs. PCIe is backward compatible, so an older motherboard slot will generally work at a reduced link speed.

A 3.2-slot cooler

The card occupies 3.2 slots, which means it needs more than three brackets of space in a case. ASUS says the large fin array is optimised for airflow from three scaled-up Axial-tech fans, designed to push more air through the card. It is listed at about 13.1 x 5.8 inches and 3.6 lb (roughly 1.6 kg), so it is heavy as well as large.

Several features help move heat from the chip:

  • MaxContact design with vapor chamber: ASUS says this ensures efficient heat transfer from the GPU.
  • Phase-change GPU thermal pad: a material that softens at operating temperature, which ASUS says lowers GPU temperatures and supports reliability.
  • 0dB technology: fans typically stop at low load, so light gaming can run in relative silence.

Power delivery and protection

ASUS lists digital power control and 15K caps for the power delivery, and a Protective PCB Coating that envelops the circuit board to help protect against short circuits caused by moisture, dust or debris.

Software and lighting

GPU Tweak III software provides performance tweaking, advanced thermal control and system monitoring. Aura Sync adds Aura-compatible ARGB lighting on the shroud and perimeter, so the colours can be matched with other compatible components.

Who it suits

It suits builders with a spacious case who want a high-end card with a large cooler and the option to tune it. If your case is small, this is not the right shape, and a slimmer card would be easier to fit.

What to check before you buy

  • Case clearance: confirm the length, width and 3.2-slot thickness fit, including cables and the radiator or fans around it.
  • Support: a heavy card can sag in a horizontal case, so consider a support bracket if the manual suggests it.
  • Power supply: check the wattage and connector type against the manual.
  • Slot spacing: the thickness may block the neighbouring expansion slot on your motherboard.
  • Monitor ports: make sure your display inputs match HDMI/DisplayPort 2.1.
  • Lighting: the ARGB needs software or a compatible header to control it.

The short version

  • ROG Strix RTX 5070 Ti OC Edition with 16GB GDDR7 and PCIe 5.0.
  • 2625 MHz OC mode and 2602 MHz default mode, with 1492 AI TOPS.
  • A 3.2-slot cooler with three Axial-tech fans, vapor chamber and phase-change pad.
  • 0dB technology, protective PCB coating and GPU Tweak III software.
  • Aura Sync ARGB lighting; about 3.6 lb.
