The ASUS ROG Ryuo III 240 ARGB is an all-in-one (AIO) liquid cooler for a desktop processor. It has a 240mm radiator, two ROG ARGB fans and a pump head with a small LED display. It is made for gaming PCs where cooling performance and appearance both matter.
How an AIO cooler works
An AIO cooler is a sealed loop. A pump moves liquid through a block that sits on the processor, the liquid carries heat to a radiator, and fans blow air through the radiator to release it. The loop comes filled and sealed, so there is no need to fill it or mix coolant yourself. In general, a 240mm radiator, which fits two 120mm fans, gives more cooling surface than most air coolers of similar mounting space.
The Asetek 8th-generation pump
The cooler uses Asetek's latest eighth-generation pump solution. ASUS says its three-phase motor pump delivers higher flow and lower impedance, which are the qualities that let the liquid move heat away efficiently. Asetek is a long-established maker of liquid cooling pumps.
The Anime Matrix display
The pump head carries ASUS's Anime Matrix, a mini LED array. ASUS says it can show ROG-exclusive anime content, core system stats and custom animations. It is a way to see processor information, or simply to add a personal touch to a build with a window.
Fans and build
The cooler includes ROG AF 12S ARGB fans. ASUS says they deliver strong airflow with low noise. ARGB means each lighting zone can be controlled individually through compatible software or a motherboard header. The listing describes aluminum construction with a vacuum-coated lens over the display.
Socket compatibility
The listing gives these supported sockets:
- AMD: AM4, AM5, TR4
- Intel: LGA 1700, 1200, 115x, 1366, 2011, 2011-3, 2066
That covers a wide range of current and older desktop platforms.
Size
The package measures about 14.2 x 12.3 x 6.7 inches (36 x 31 x 17 cm). Allow for the 240mm radiator and fans in your case, as well as clearance around the pump head and tubing.
What to check before you buy
- That your case can mount a 240mm radiator, usually at the front or top, and has room for the fans.
- That your processor socket appears in the compatibility list.
- Whether your motherboard has the headers needed for the fans, pump and ARGB lighting, and any USB header needed for the display. The listing does not detail these connections.
- Clearance around memory modules and the top of the motherboard.
- Whether you will need to install software to control the display and lighting.
- Warranty terms in your region.
