The ASUS ROG Ryujin III 360 ARGB Extreme is an all-in-one (AIO) liquid CPU cooler with a 360mm radiator, a pump head that carries a 3.5-inch LCD screen, and three magnetic ARGB fans. It is designed for AMD Ryzen 9000 and Intel Core Ultra processors. Here is what its features mean.

How an AIO liquid cooler works

An AIO cooler has a sealed loop of coolant. A pump block on the processor moves heat into the coolant, which flows to a radiator where fans blow the heat out of the case. A 360mm radiator fits three 120mm fans, giving a large surface area for shedding heat. Liquid coolers like this are typically chosen for powerful processors and for builds where the user wants a clean look around the CPU socket.

The Asetek Gen8 V2 pump

The pump is Asetek's Emma Gen8 V2, which ASUS says uses a 3-phase motor to give higher flow and lower impedance. In simple terms, the coolant moves more freely, and ASUS says this improves cooling performance. Asetek is a well-known maker of AIO pump designs.

Magnetic ARGB fans

The three fans are thicker than standard ones, aimed at high airflow and static pressure, with noise optimisation. Static pressure is the ability to push air through a dense radiator. They snap together with special magnets, which ASUS says streamlines installation and reduces the number of cables. ARGB means addressable RGB, so lighting can be controlled per LED.

The 3.5-inch LCD

The pump cap carries a 3.5-inch LCD with a resolution of 640x480, and ASUS says the refresh rate is 60Hz. You can show custom animated GIFs or live readouts of clock frequency, voltage, temperature, fan speed and coolant flow. The software also offers AIDA64 integration with special ROG themes.

Embedded VRM fan

A small fan built into the pump housing blows air across the motherboard's voltage regulator modules (VRMs), the components that power the CPU. Many AIO coolers leave this area without airflow because there is no large air cooler above it. The software lets you control the pump and the embedded fan speeds.

Size and compatibility

The cooler measures about 16.7 x 7.4 x 7.4 inches. ASUS names AMD Ryzen 9000 (AM5) and Intel Core Ultra processors as supported. Check the exact socket list in the manual, and confirm that your case supports a 360mm radiator at the top or front, with room for the tubing.

Who it suits

It suits builders with a high-end processor who want strong cooling, a display for monitoring and a coordinated ROG look, and who have a case with 360mm radiator support.

What to check before you buy

  • Case support: confirm that your case takes a 360mm radiator and note its thickness.
  • Socket: check mounting hardware for your processor socket.
  • Software: the LCD and fan controls use ASUS software, so check operating-system support.
  • Motherboard headers: ensure there are enough fan, pump and ARGB headers.
  • Memory clearance: make sure the radiator and fans do not block tall memory modules.
  • Warranty: the listing gives no terms, so check the product documentation.

The short version
