The ASUS ROG Ryujin III 360 is an all-in-one (AIO) liquid CPU cooler with a 360mm radiator, an Asetek 8th generation pump and three Noctua industrialPPC 120mm fans. Its pump head also carries a 3.5-inch colour LCD. It is meant for gaming and high-performance PCs where the processor produces a lot of heat.
How an AIO cooler works
An AIO cooler is a sealed loop. A pump moves liquid across a plate on the processor, picks up heat, and carries it to a radiator where fans blow air through to cool it. A 360mm radiator holds three 120mm fans in a row, so it has more surface area than a 240mm or 120mm model. In general, a larger radiator can shed more heat at lower fan speeds, which is why this size is common with powerful processors.
The pump
ASUS uses Asetek's 8th generation pump with a three-phase motor. The brand says this delivers higher flow, lower impedance and less noise. The pump sits in the head over the CPU, and the listing says the embedded fan has a ring-shaped frame with airflow channels designed to reduce heat around the VRM, the power components next to the processor socket.
The Noctua fans
The radiator uses three Noctua iPPC-2000 PWM fans, described as industrial-grade, with high airflow and minimal noise. PWM means the motherboard can control fan speed in fine steps, so they can run slowly when idle and speed up under load.
The LCD and software
The 3.5-inch LCD shows hardware information such as temperatures, or custom images. ASUS says users can upload GIF animations with doubled file volumes compared with earlier designs. Armoury Crate software controls the pump, the embedded fan and the radiator fans, and sets what the LCD displays.
Who it suits
It suits PC builders who want liquid cooling for a high-power processor in a case that can fit a 360mm radiator, and who like a clean look with a display on the pump head. It is not needed for modest processors, where a good air cooler is often enough.
What to check before you buy
- Processor socket compatibility; confirm your CPU socket is on the supported list.
- Case support for a 360mm radiator, usually at the top or front, and the room around memory and the motherboard.
- Radiator thickness and tube length for your case layout.
- Header availability on your motherboard for pump power, fans and the USB connection used by the LCD.
- Whether you are comfortable using Armoury Crate software.
- Weight: the listing gives about 3.9 lb.
The short version
- 360mm all-in-one liquid CPU cooler with an Asetek 8th gen, three-phase pump.
- Three Noctua iPPC-2000 PWM 120mm fans for airflow with low noise.
- 3.5-inch LCD for system information or custom GIFs.
- Armoury Crate controls pump, embedded fan, radiator fans and LCD content.
