The ASUS ProArt GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16GB OC Edition is a graphics card built around NVIDIA's Ada Lovelace architecture. ASUS positions it for creators, with 3D rendering, video editing and photo work in mind, in a slimmer 2.5-slot design. Here is what its specs mean.
16GB of GDDR6 memory
The card has 16GB of GDDR6 video memory. Video memory holds textures, frame buffers and project data, so creative applications working with large scenes, high-resolution footage or big images typically benefit from having more of it. The listing notes a PCIe 4.0 interface, and the outputs are HDMI 2.1a and DisplayPort 1.4a.
Ada Lovelace, Tensor Cores and DLSS 3
NVIDIA's listing claims include streaming multiprocessors with up to 2x performance and power efficiency, 4th-generation Tensor Cores with up to 4x performance using DLSS 3 compared with brute-force rendering, and 3rd-generation RT cores with up to 2x ray tracing performance. DLSS 3 is NVIDIA's AI-based upscaling and frame generation technology, supported by compatible games and applications. These are NVIDIA's comparison figures against earlier generations, and results depend on the software.
Clock speeds
ASUS lists a boost clock of 2685 MHz in OC mode and 2655 MHz in default mode. OC mode is a factory-set profile selected through ASUS software, with the small increase typical of factory overclocking.
Cooling and noise
ASUS says its Axial-tech fans are scaled up for 21% more airflow, with dual ball fan bearings that it says last up to twice as long as conventional designs. 0dB technology stops the fans at low loads, so light work is nearly silent. Auto-Extreme automated manufacturing is described by ASUS as improving reliability.
Size and case fit
The card is a 2.5-slot design, about 11.8 x 4.7 x 1.9 inches (30 x 12 x 4.8 cm), and weighs about 2.1 lb (0.95 kg). ASUS says the slimmer cooler allows greater build compatibility. Check your case's maximum graphics card length, and the free space beside the PCIe slot.
Software
GPU Tweak III has a profile connect feature, which ASUS says lets creators optimise performance and cooling for each application.
Who it suits
It suits video editors, 3D artists and photographers who want more video memory in a compact card, and builders in smaller cases. It can also play games, though ProArt is ASUS's creator line.
What to check before you buy
- Case clearance: confirm length and 2.5-slot width fit your case.
- Power: check the card's power connector and the power supply's wattage against the manufacturer's specifications.
- Slot: it uses PCIe 4.0; it also works in other PCIe versions with a matching x16 slot.
- Displays: check that HDMI 2.1a and DisplayPort 1.4a match your monitors and cables.
- Software: check your applications support the features you want, such as DLSS 3.
- Drivers: download current drivers from the manufacturer.
