The ASUS ProArt LC 420 is an all-in-one (AIO) liquid cooler for desktop processors. It pairs a 420mm radiator with three 140mm Noctua fans and a small illuminated meter that shows how the system is running. It is aimed at workstation and creator PCs where the processor is under sustained load. Here is what its listed features mean.
How an all-in-one liquid cooler works
An AIO cooler is a sealed loop. A pump block sits on the processor and absorbs heat into liquid, tubing carries that liquid to a radiator, and fans pull air through the radiator to release the heat. Compared with a typical air cooler, a large radiator spreads the heat over a bigger area, which generally helps with processors that produce a lot of heat. It also moves the bulk of the cooler away from the motherboard.
The 420mm radiator
The "420" refers to the radiator length: three 140mm fans side by side. ASUS says the radiator is thicker and has larger coolant storage for enhanced cooling performance. Thick radiators give more surface area, though they need more room in the case. The listing gives overall dimensions of 18.2 x 8.1 x 6.3 inches (about 46 x 20.5 x 16 cm).
Noctua NF-A14 industrialPPC-2000 fans
The cooler includes three Noctua NF-A14 industrialPPC-2000 PWM fans. ASUS says they deliver high airflow with minimal noise. PWM means the motherboard can vary the fan speed smoothly with temperature, so the fans can run slowly when the system is idle and speed up under load. The industrialPPC range is a Noctua line built for demanding use.
Three-phase pump motor
ASUS says a performance three-phase motor offers excellent cooling capability and quieter operation. In general, a three-phase motor runs more smoothly than a simpler single-phase design, which can mean less vibration and noise.
The illuminated status meter
A small illuminated meter shows live system load, temperatures and fan speeds. It lets you see at a glance what the system is doing without opening software. The minimalist look is designed to match the ProArt family of components.
Tubing and warranty
The tubing is 450mm, reinforced and sleeved, which ASUS says gives durability, flexibility and chassis compatibility. A 6-year warranty is listed.
Who it suits
It suits creator, editing and workstation builds with a high-heat processor and a large case, where quiet, sustained cooling matters. Smaller builds may find a 420mm radiator too large.
What to check before you buy
- Case support: confirm your case takes a 420mm radiator and where it mounts (top or front), with room for the thickness.
- Processor socket: check the manual's compatibility list for your processor's socket and mounting hardware.
- Tubing reach: 450mm needs to reach from the radiator to the processor.
- Memory clearance: check that the radiator and fans don't collide with tall memory modules.
- Fan and header connections: confirm you have the headers needed for the pump, fans and the meter.
