The ASUS Prime GeForce RTX 5070 OC Edition (model PRIME-RTX5070-O12G) is a graphics card built on NVIDIA's Blackwell architecture with 12GB of GDDR7 memory and a PCIe 5.0 interface. It is labelled SFF-Ready, meaning it is designed to fit small-form-factor cases, while still using a three-fan cooler.

What Blackwell and DLSS 4 bring

Blackwell is NVIDIA's current GPU architecture for this generation. The listing highlights DLSS 4, NVIDIA's upscaling and frame-generation technology, which uses AI to render games at a lower internal resolution and reconstruct the image, or to generate extra frames. Support depends on the game, so check that your favourite titles offer it. The card has HDMI and DisplayPort 2.1 outputs for recent monitors.

What SFF-Ready means

NVIDIA's SFF-Ready programme sets size guidelines so that builders of small cases can tell which cards will fit. ASUS gives the dimensions as about 12.0 in long, 5.0 in tall and 2.0 in thick, with a weight of 2.3 lb (about 1 kg). It describes a 2.5-slot design, which ASUS says allows greater build compatibility while maintaining cooling performance.

Cooling in detail

According to ASUS, the shroud, heatsink and heat pipes are arranged so that the three Axial-tech fans can use ventilation from the case's side panel. The fans use a smaller hub for longer blades, and a barrier ring increases downward air pressure. Other points from the brand:

  • Phase-change thermal pad: it softens with heat to fill microscopic gaps between the GPU and the cooler, improving heat transfer and, ASUS says, reliability.
  • Dual-ball bearings: ASUS says they last up to twice as long as standard sleeve bearings.
  • 0dB technology: fans stop under light loads, so light gaming or desktop use can be close to silent.
  • Dual BIOS switch: choose Quiet or Performance profiles.

Manufacturing and software

ASUS mentions its Auto-Extreme manufacturing process, an automated production method aimed at precision and consistency. GPU Tweak III is the optional software for adjusting performance, fan and thermal behaviour, and system monitoring.

Who it suits

This card suits people building a compact gaming or creative PC, and those who want a card that is not oversized. As an OC Edition, it comes with a factory-boosted clock, so it saves manual tuning.

What to check before you buy

  • Case fit: measure the available length, height and slot space, and compare with the 12.0 x 5.0 x 2.0 in dimensions.
  • Power supply: look up ASUS's recommended wattage and confirm your supply offers the right power connector.
  • Motherboard: the card uses a PCIe 5.0 x16 interface; check that your board has a free x16 slot.
  • Displays: match your monitor's inputs with the card's HDMI and DisplayPort outputs.
  • Game support: confirm that the games you play support DLSS 4.
  • Airflow: a case with ventilation beside the card helps the fans work as designed.

The short version

  • A Blackwell-based RTX 5070 with 12GB of GDDR7 and DLSS 4 support.
  • SFF-Ready with a 2.5-slot, three-fan cooler.
  • Phase-change thermal pad, dual-ball bearings, 0dB mode and dual BIOS.
  • Optional GPU Tweak III software for tuning and monitoring.
  • Check case size and power supply before you buy.
